Alex's POV:

"What did you want to talk about the other night?" I queried, holding the hanger of my bag around my neck. We walked in a straight path. In line but two feet apart. I glared at his direction, finding his hands in his jacket pocket. I wish I knew what he was thinking. He talks but it's not everything he let's on. "It's about our deal." He spoke to me looking straight ahead. I knew it was going to be about that. Him moving out said as much. "So, are you finally terminating our agreement and leaving me alone?" I questioned, giving him a side glare.

He shook his head, crushing my dreams of a quietude life. "I decided to stay in my own house but still have you by my side when I go to work." Did he just categories taking souls as work?

"Does that mean that stunt you pulled today is going to be continuous?"

"What stunt?"

Men I hate his sarcastic-oblivious character.

I wrinkled my brow so hard, he chuckled. "Okay fine. I will be less alarming when I come to fetch you up." He says it like it's a normal thing. He speaks out words like a human but means differently. "You're just saying it, aren't you?" He sucked in his lips and looked away before nodding. I hit his arm in annoyance not caring that he doesn't feel pain. "Come on, it's way more fun popping out from the corner of your ear." How was spooking someone fun? If he was human, I bet if I spooked him he would shudder. "How would you feel if it was the other way round?" He thought about it for a moment.

"That wouldn't be a problem. You aren't scary in the least, so I wouldn't be spooked even if you put your all into it." He smiled but this time I ignored, looking straight ahead.

"Walking with you is the worst." I muttered, he chuckled silently then stared at the ground. "If you only knew you left it." He muttered.

"Left what?"

"Nothing."

For some uncanny reason I didn't care to ask what he meant.

Even if I felt like I kinda did leave something behind.

Within minutes we reached the entrance of my apartment.

In silence we watched a group of teens walk in drunk. I watched, unsurprised to see Dustin, Mrs. Audrey's son, another neighbour, with them.

He was a troublesome kid with problems who followed the wrong crowd. His mother traveled a week ago.

She won't be back until two weeks so he's trying to take the opportunity of being home alone to throw parties, go out drinking and all the nefarious stuff kids his age did.

If he keeps this up, he would end up with an illegitimate child, a criminal record, problems with his lung because of his drinking and a low paid job. I don't wish this on him but his mistakes could get him there. Maybe I should do something. "Poor kid." I said, forgetting I was still with Darian.

"Which one?" He asked sarcastically. "No-one," I took in a huff of air and smiled. "So we are here. I should go in." I raised my shoulders, whiles my hands turned into tight fists in my pockets. This chilly weather required a steamy hot cup of tea. One I was planning on making once I got up there.

"You should. We'll definitely meet tomorrow. Sleep tight, tomorrow's going to be a lot." I know it will.

"Darian," I called as he turned to leave. There was a question I was holding back the entire walk here and I really needed an answer to it now.

"My episodes. Do you have something to do with why they aren't active anymore?"

He kept a serious face on while he answered, "I do. Let me explain how this works," he moved closer to me as if to make me understand or pay attention better.
