Narrator's POV:

It had been a week since Audrey, one of the tenants, left for a business trip, leaving her seventeen year old son alone till she got back. She left him some cash and a filled refrigerator to sustain him till she returned.

Dustin took this rare opportunity to be rebellious. He invited his friends over. Got drunk with them. But still managed not to get in trouble for underage drinking or any of the notorious stunts he pulled.

Once, he broke into the school with some of his friends and vandalized the entire place with toilet paper. Though the school had CCTV cameras and saw the culprits, they wore mask to keep their identity from being revealed.

He was on the roll and noone except his friends knew about his mischief while his mom was away.

And there was one more person who was aware but wasn't sure how to approach the rebel who didn't really converse with her.

Spying through her curtains, Alex spotted Dustin with a guy across the street in a dark alley. She was trying to mind her business like she normally did, but something felt odd with the guy. He wore a black cap which he pulled over his face.

Carefully she pushed open the curtain. Her eyes observing a package the unknown guy placed in Dustin's hand. He held it with fear but quickly put it into his pocket. Hiding it from eyesight. He looked around and when noone was near he shook the guy's hand. He was shaky and scared but he hid it with a confident smile, but even the other guy knew he was scared from how shaken and startled he looked. But he just smirked at the little boy in amusement.

Then the unfamiliar person casually walked away, observing his surroundings as he left.

Alex sights returned back to Dustin who held his jacket pocket securely. Then he rushed back to the apartment building.

What is that kid up to this time? Alex thought, gently rubbing her forehead in irritation. She was tempted to go out and find out for herself. But again, it wasn't her problem. Whatever the kid was up to wasn't her business. He was a bratty kid with anger tantrums. He would probably act rude and ungrateful when she tried to help.

So why even try?

She then turned a blind eye at everything and went back to her already complicated life.

Back at the Café, Alex stared at the entrance awaiting Darian's arrival. He hadn't showed up yet and she kept on waiting and would jump everytime the door swung open. Only for customers to walk in instead of Darian.

"Alex?"

Fred called from behind, a tray of green tea in his left hand, another tray of sandwiches and three cups of coffees and another tray on his forehand with ice tea. He was struggling to keep them balanced in his hands. "A little help?" She rushed to carry two trays. "Didn't you think two trays would have been better?" She teased.

"Funny. Thanks for the help."

"You're welcome." She smiled.

After giving the meals to their respective owners, Alex returned to the counter. Her eyes hitting the doors. But still no sign of him. Or was he planning on showing up when she least expected to scare her like always. Probably.

"Waiting for someone?" Fred asked whispering into her ears. She jumped by his voice and turned with a scared expression on her face. "Fred!"

"Sorry if I scared you. But why are you so jumpy today? Are you expecting someone?" He asked looking behind her to check if a familiar face would walk in. "Nothing. Just a little tired, though." She held her neck in discomfort, her eyes halfway close. "You do look tired. Why don't you get some rest at home? You shouldn't overwork yourself, you know that right?"
