"What did you want to talk about?" George questioned.

He waited eagerly for Clay to respond.

George had a feeling Clay was going to tell him he liked him again but he didn't want to get his hopes up. If didn't then he at least hoped it would be something good.

Clay didn't look happy though?

He hesitated before answering,"Never mind, I'll just drop you off"

George furrowed just eyebrows.

"Is..everything okay?" George asked with concern.

Clay could only hum in response.

——

The car ride was silent, not the comfortable silence that would usually linger between the two but instead a very awkward one.

George was left worried and curious.

Clay would tell him if somethings wrong, right?

The car pulled up outside of George's house and Clay unlocked the doors.

George grabbed the door handle when Clay spoke up, "George?"

George took his hand away from the handle and placed it in his own lap, looking back over at the blonde, "Yeah?"

"I still really like you" Clay mumbled.

A warm and excited smile pulled at George's lips and his heart fluttered at his words.

"I like you too, Clay" George muttered shyly as a blush spread across his cheeks.

"But I just got out of a relationship and I don't think I'm ready to start another one.." Clay said looking down.

George completely understood though, he wasn't going to force Clay into a relationship with him if he wasn't ready.

"That's fine! I'll wait" George smiled.

Clay still struggled to make eye contact with George as he mumbled a 'thanks'.

Is that not what Clay wanted?

If it was then why is he acting so weird?

George furrowed his eyebrows, "I'll wait for you but only if that's what you want"

"Please wait for me, George" Clay said with guilt, "Because I don't know how long it'll take me to be ready"

George smiled even though Clay wasn't looking at him, "I'll wait for as long as you need"

George reached over and grabbed Clays hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"Bye, Clay" George got no response so he opened the car door and started walking up to his house.

——

George walked into the living room to be greeted with his father and sister on the couch looking at the TV.

His father looked up from the screen and smiled at him, "Hey kiddo, how was school?"

"Good" George said as he sat down in the gap between his father and sister.

"What're you guys watching?"

"The bachelor!" His sister responded while passing George the bowl of popcorn.

"You didn't go to school today?" George asked.

"Nope, sick." His sister replied without her eyes leaving the big screen in front of her.

George just nodded before hearing the front door open, his mother walked into the living room."

"George! How was school?" His mother asked.
