Lauren
————————————————————-"Why hello there."
The man who held the gun aimed at Peter's head regarded us with a solemn expression. His wavy blonde hair shifted as he tilted his head to the side.
He couldn't have been much older than Peter and I, his flawless pale skin complemented by striking blue eyes, and bow-shaped lips. A white dress shirt adorned his torso while a pair of brown khakis hugged his slender legs.
"Who are you?" the blond demanded, his gaze swerving in my direction. Sky-blue eyes flicked to something behind the door. "Reese."
Another pair of long legs entered my field of vision, accompanied by a muscular figure that stepped out from where they had been hidden behind the door. Before I could react, I was dragged into the room.
"Hey!" I shouted, attempting to wretch myself out of my assailant's painful grip. The dark-skinned man didn't budge as he forcibly wrestled me across the threshold.
Inside was an expensive-looking loft with grey walls and a polished wood vinyl floor. The interior of the loft reflected a modern glam design, with spotless white marble kitchen counters and noir style decor. My jaw almost dropped in astonishment at the beautiful aesthetics. It must have cost a fortune to live here.
It wasn't until I noticed the giant bloodstain behind the island that my blood ran cold.
Attempting to jerk my arm free of the larger man's hold, I glared at the tall and imposing man before me. "Let go!"
The dark-skinned guy didn't bother responding, instead shoving me to the ground next to Peter before he slammed the door shut behind us. My shoulder met the hard vinyl with a painful thud, a curse leaving my mouth as I rubbed my sore ribs. Peter's arms soon came around me as he quickly positioned himself between me and the gunman.
"You okay, Lauren?" Peter muttered over his shoulder.
I nodded, before focusing on my companion's face. Peter's complexion was pale, the veins in his jaw popping with either pain or fury. Fear dropped into my stomach as I noticed fresh spots of dark red on his bandages.
"Nice going, moron, you led them right to us," The man who had grabbed me spat. He appeared to be in his early twenties, with dark brown skin and short, curly black hair. Defined muscles stood out beneath the tight fabric of his blue shirt.
I didn't want to admit it, but this guy was kinda hot.
"Seriously, Josiah, what were you thinking?" The handsome man continued, his hazel eyes staring down at a figure against the far wall.
"Calm down, Reese. I don't see what all the fuss is about. They look like normal people."
My eyes followed the tenor voice to a tan guy with long brown hair leaning against the wall. Wearing combat boots, ripped black jeans, and a flannel jacket, Josiah reminded me of a member of a boy band that I once had a crush on.
Another voice spoke up from the center of the room."Uh, yeah, until they shape-shift back into their hideous alien forms and eat our brains for dinner!"
I turned to see yet another man lounging comfortably on the dark grey sofa nearby. He was almost identical to the blond holding the gun, though his rumpled clothes and lounging pose gave him a more laid-back appearance. My gaze moved over all four men wearily. Peter and I were outnumbered, neither of us having a weapon to defend ourselves with. If it came down to an all-out brawl, we would surely lose.
