Where It All Started

1 week before Antonio's gift ceremony

Mirabel pov

I was walking home after being told by family they didn't need my help. Like usual. I zoned out into my thoughts when I bumped into someone. "I'm so sorry." "It's fine." they said as the got up. "So who are you?" "I could ask you the sameI said as I got up and dusted myself off." They laughed. "I guess your right. I'm Killua Zoldyck. An assassin. And you are?" "Mirabel Madrigal. Known as the 'Giftless Disgrace,' 'Useless Madrigal,' 'Burden to the family' and so on." I said with a hint of annoyance. Killua's smiled faded and for a moment he looked thoughtful.

"That's not cool. How old are you Mirabel?"
"15." "I'm being honest with you Mirabel. I'm looking for an apprentice. Someone who can take over the assassin business for me when I die or retire. I'll teach everything I know even teach you how to control your powers." "Powers? What powers?" I asked. I was confused. I have powers? How come they never showed and why didn't I get a door? "Yes powers. You have Zoldyck blood in you believe it or not. Which is rare. You either have to be related to me. Or born in the family." Killua explained.

I was so confused at this point. Now that I think about it I don't look like my family much. They had black hair while I had black hair with white highlights and a small portion of my hair white. Looking at Killua's features he had whiteish silver hair and blueish greenish grey eyes like mine. I'm always thinking that I'm adopted because so look nothing like my family and I didn't get a gift. The prank Camilo played on me by saying I was adopted had me thinking. I think for a few more seconds before answering.

"I'm interested. Besides I've always wanted to find my real family if I wasn't a Madrigal by blood." Killua seemed to brighten up at that. "Great. If you can turn into a cat or grow cat features then you were born into the family. If you act like a cat but don't grow the features or turn into one your related to the family." "So I was born with a cat gene?" "Yeah pretty much."

Me and Killua left to his base where we started my training. We found out I was his long lost twin sister which would explain my hair and eyes. Guess that's the reason I never got a gift. He introduced me to his other recruits and I fell for one of them. Her name is Kiara. Over the months we started dating even taking it as far as getting married secretly.

The Madrigals don't know about my secret life as I've been sneaking off during parties and sneaking out at night. When doing missions that are two villages away from Encanto I take my horse Mariposa to the base and get on my motorcycle. I'm skilled with every type of weapon given to me. So far the Madrigals don't know about my secret life and don't care that I never spend time with them. To keep them from asking questions in case Antonio tells them about my weird behavior I spend time with him.

I can't tell if Isabela is happy or sad I'm staying out of her way. Abuela either doesn't mind or doesn't care. I know that Mariano's gonna propose to Isabela 2 years after Antonio's gift ceremony but I don't care. I won't be attending the dinner anyways. Too many people. I'm already an introvert in an extrovert family and a family of assassins. Besides I'll be there for Antonio to get his gift and leave when everyone's in his room partying or some shit I don't care.

Hey Isabela and Abuela can look on the bright side. If I'm not there then I can't mess anything up. I'm sure they'll be happy that the giftless Madrigal isn't ruining an important night. Not that I care. Though one thing I'm sure they noticed is how I have no spark and am basically emotionless. I'm disappointed that they just now realized that. I've been going emotionless and had no spark since I was 6. It wasn't until I was 10 that I became completely emotionless. Only emotions I have are annoyance and love.

Antonio brought love back a bit but meeting Kiara brought it back permanently. Annoyance stayed after an annoying prank Camilo did to me. I'm sure if something were to happen to Casita during Antonio's ceremony as I'm leaving would stay a secret. Maybe I'll check out Bruno's room if that scenario were to happen. I still wouldn't care though. It's not like the Madrigals are my real family anyways.
