This book has no ships, love is simply not a feeling that countryhumans or statehumans are capable of experiencing. So no family trees either, father-son or sibling like relationships do exist, but in this book none of it is "canon".
It should be explained how countries exist later in the book if it's necessary.

Okay so now I will be addressing the elephant in the room. Putin's invasion of Ukraine. I am not planning on mentioning this event. However that is not a guarantee. I will not be expressing an opinion, in the case I do bring this up. This book is set in early February 2022, prior to the invasion. I will attempt to "reroute" the time line as an alternate universe for this occasion. This book does not follow Ukraine, however Russia is a member of the Arctic council so it is a possibility it is brought up (though unlikely).
I am mentioning this as I do not have a solid plan for this book as of now, so this is just a warning if this may anger or harm readers.
