"So how exactly do we plan to find Juliet?" Asked Fawn as he mindlessly followed Tybalt into the alley. Much like Gnomeo, Tybalt was the revenge captain for the Red Garden and therefor took charge when it came to matters like this. While Lord Redbrick was still bickering with the Blue leader, he decided to finally start a search for his cousin so tensions would hopefully die down a bit. It wasn't as fun for him now, since neither garden had pulled any sort of stunt in a while.
"She's got to be around here somewhere." Tybalt said nonchalantly, "It's not like she fell off the face of the Earth."
Fawn and the little gnomes stared at him blankly. He rolled his eyes, realizing that they would believe something like that could happen. "Look, she couldn't have gone far." He turned around, pointing to the little gnomes, "You guys go search the other end of the alley." He looked at Fawn, "You and I'll keep heading this way."
"Yes, boss." Fawn said, and was immediately repeated by the little gnomes before they took off in the other direction. The deer skipped forward to catch up to Tybalt as he kept walking. "I wonder what made her want to run away in the first place."
Tybalt scoffed, "Whatever it is, it was a stupid idea. She obviously doesn't realize what she's done by running away. I just hope finding her will finally get Lord Redbrick off our backs."
"Yeah, but it won't stop Lady Bluebury from yelling at us about Gnomeo." Fawn said, recalling the conversation he heard earlier. Up until then, he wasn't actually aware that Gnomeo was missing as well.
But Tybalt didn't seem to care one bit. All it meant for him was that he didn't have a single enemy to fight. But that didn't matter to him. There were plenty of other Blues he could single out. Benny was the first that came to mind, being that he was Gnomeo's cousin and was just as (if not, more) annoying than him.
"That bastard can stay missing for all I care." He said, "With luck, he'll turn up dead in the next few days."
As they continued walking, Fawn took a glance at the fence they were passing and noticed something off about it. It looked familiar, like he'd been near it before. Only this time, the little hole at the bottom of it wasn't there anymore. Huh, odd. He could've sworn there was an entry way through the fence.
"Hey, wait a minute." He said, stopping in his tracks. "Isn't this the Old Lawrence Place?"
Tybalt stopped and turned to look at the fence and the wall around it. "Uh, yeah." He said, spotting the sign on the wall that read; "Lawrence". The gnomes were familiar with the abandoned garden behind that wall, but no one ever went beyond to see it. "What about it?"
"Well, when we were here the other night looking for Gnomeo, I could've sworn there was a hole right here." The deer said, walking up to the fence, specifically where the hole used to be. "Yeah, Juliet came running out of it and bumped into us."
At first Tybalt wanted to dismiss his observation and move on. But then he thought about it, and realized that Fawn was right. The night Gnomeo and Benny snuck into the Red Garden and escaped, he and Fawn went out into the alley to look for them. And they did run into Juliet in this very spot. To this day he didn't know why she was out in the alley at night, but he didn't bother to find out.
"Huh.." He said, narrowing his eyes. He walked up to the fence, noticing something seemed off. As he got a closer look, he realized that a different piece of wood was standing where the hole once was. It was blocking it, for some reason.
Tybalt attempted to push the piece of wood, only to find out it was boarded to the fence. "Someone closed it up.""But who?" Fawn asked. "And why?"
Tybalt didn't say anything, but he was already starting to think it had something to do with the missing gnome they were searching for. Maybe, just maybe they might've found out where she was hiding this whole time.
