The Stupid Dare
Chapter 1
Elissa flicked her wrist, spinning the empty beer bottle. Please don't land on me, please don't land on-
Good. I breathed out a sigh of relief as it landed on Kirsten, one of the other girls in the group. We were currently at Elissa's house for a 'Girls Night In' before school started up again after winter break. This was breaking our usual routine of going out, partying and getting absolutely pissed and then throwing ourselves at guys. Not that I minded the change.
Yeah, I was part of the cliché 'popular' crowd. Personally, I think it was because of my looks. I had long honey blonde hair, and bright light blue eyes. Yes, I'm pretty, but isn't everyone that's popular?
"Truth or dare, Kirsten?" Elissa asked in a menacing tone. "Truth," Kirsten replied easily, flipping her dyed platinum blonde hair over her shoulder. "Who was the last person you-"
I blanked out, not really interested in what Elissa had to say. I mean, these girls were my friends, they were the only ones I knew how to act right around, but I couldn't help but get slightly bored by their behaviour from time to time. I looked around Elissa's newly-decorated bedroom, taking in the expensive silk sheets and chandelier. Elissa was filthy rich.
"Hello? Anyone in?" Kirsten called, waving her perfectly manicured hand over my face. "What?" I asked, snapping back to reality. "Truth or dare?" She asked in a bored tone.
"Dare."
The girls eyes twinkled mischievously, telling me that they had something planned. I gulped. Maybe I should have chosen truth.
"We have the perfect one for you," Elissa started, rubbing her hands together like an evil villain in a movie. "I dare you to make Caleb Evans fall for you."
The other girls snickered, obviously liking this dare. I blinked. "Caleb?" I questioned. I had heard the name before...
"The freak that's a loner and a geek. The one that sits at the back of every class. You know, the guy that sits on his own at lunch, the one who plays guitar?" Kirsten explained, her voice disgusted.
Oh. Him. I can't say I knew him, but I knew of him. There's a difference. "Okay," I said "That shouldn't be hard."
"There's a catch-" Kirsten started, her eyes gaining an evil look. I swallowed, not liking where this was going. "After he falls for you, you have to leave him. Break his heart, whatever." Now that wasn't my scene. I was more of a fuck-and-go kind of girl. Some people called me a whore, but I preferred to think of it as 'having fun'.
I'm not that bad though, I'm not a heartbreaker.
I stared at her. "Maybe you're too chicken to do it," she taunted. "Maybe you don't want to be friends with us anymore, is that it?"
Oh no. Being dumped by the populars meant that you were doomed to spend the rest of your high school life in the fiery depths of Lonerville. Seriously. I felt really conceited to say it, but I needed to be popular.
"Fine. I'll do it."
The girls exchanged triumphant looks. "You can start on Monday," Elissa exclaimed, shooting me a grin. Oh, joy.
