Giselle Alvarez ripped off the veil that was attached to her sophisticated updo and threw it into the ground. Wala na syang narinig pa at wala na syang nakita pa. She ran outside of the dressing room ng simbahan kung saan dapat gaganapin ang kanyang kasal.
What kasal?! she scoffed. Walang kasal!
She angrily swiped at the tears that ruined her make up. She was pretty sure black mascara ran down her cheeks, but she didn't care. She no longer needed to look picture perfect on what was supposed to be a picture perfect day. A supposed dream wedding turned into the wedding nightmares are made of.
"Gel!" she heard her friend Rose yell after her.
"Rose, susi," she stopped running and faced her friend.
"Ano?" Rose replied. She finally caught up to Giselle and panted, clearly out of breath from running in her high heels.
"Sabi ko susi!"
"Why do you need my keys?"
"I need to get out of here."
"Teka, Gel, huwag ka naman padalos dalos. Kalma lang..."
"No! Hindi nya ko pwedeng pahiyain! There's no such thing as a runaway groom, for heaven's sake! Ako ang dapat umalis. Ako ang dapat maging runaway bride!" she threw her arms up in the air, like she couldn't believe what fate dealt her on this day.
Rose reluctantly reached into her purse and gave her keys to her friend. "Saan ka pupunta?"
"Hindi ko pa alam."
"Gel, you want me to come with you?"
"No, dito ka na lang. Stay with my mom, please," Giselle reached for her friend's hands and pleaded with her.
"Okay," Rose nodded dahil wala naman na syang magagawa pang iba.
"Thank you," nagbeso si Giselle kay Rose at tumakbo na ulit patungo sa parking lot ng simbahan kung saan nakapark ang sasakyan ni Rose.
Hindi na nya inintindi ang mga security guards at wedding planning staff na pilit syang pinapatigil sa paktakbo. She got in the car and quickly stepped on the gas before anyone could even follow her. She had no idea where she was going, but she just knew that she had to get away from her own ruined wedding.
You'll be okay, Giselle. You're brave, fierce, and bold. Kaya mo yan. Kayang kaya mo yan.
