Seven years. It's been seven whole years since you've been divorced, seven years since you've seen his beautiful brown eyes, seven years since you've last seen Tom. He caused you tremendous pain, he cheated on you with a girl who was at least ten years younger than you. Why? Well, you never even knew what you did that made Tom do it. Seven years later, and you still ask yourself that question. But you've also learned to slowly move on, Tom was no longer your husband and he was no longer present in your life. Approximately two years after the divorce, one of your friend's had decided to set up a blind date for you. You weren't a big fan of the idea of going on a date without someone you know nothing about, but you also knew that you weren't going to go back to Tom. So you reluctantly agreed to go, and it was one of the best decisions of your life.

John was amazing, he was everything that you wished your significant other would be. Being with him made you lose track of time, you wanted to spend the rest of your life with him. Before you knew it, you and John moved in together and were a married couple of two years. Not only this, but you were also expecting your first child. When you and John had first found out, you two were beyond excited for the journey ahead. Being a mom to someone was something you were always looking forward to, and now you were going to be one. You were currently in your second trimester, a couple of weeks ago you and John had found out the gender of your baby... you were having a baby boy.

As of right now, you and John were getting ready for a networking event that was hosted by John's company. This was an extremely big event in the tech industry, as many CEOs and entrepreneurs in tech were attending the event. As you were getting ready, you could sense that John was beyond nervous. To be honest, if you were in his position you would also be extremely nervous. John was going to be a guest speaker that was representing his company. While you were putting your earrings on, you looked over at John whose hands were shaking and you could hear him mumbling.

You sighed and walked over to him, "Love, you're gonna be fine okay? You've been practicing for weeks, you're gonna do great." you say to him.

He took a deep breath in, "Thank you love, but I'm just so freaking nervous" he says, laughing a little to get the nerves out of his system.

You started laughing with him, "Why did you say 'freaking'? You know that you can swear right?" You say to him while smiling.

John smiled even more, "Yeah, but there's a baby in this room! I am not swearing in front of the baby!" he exclaimed humorously.

You started laughing even more, "Wow, you're going to be a great father. " You tell him sincerely.

John kisses your baby bump, "Yeah well I can't wait to be a father to our beautiful baby boy" he responds.

You and John kiss each other, grateful for one another, and then head out of the door.

There you two were (technically three), at the biggest networking event of the year. John was going to give his speech in a few minutes. You could see that his hands were all sweating and his heart was beating rapidly. You took a hold of his hands with yours, assuring him that he'll be great and that you were so incredibly proud of him.

After your pep talk, the host had started to introduce John, meaning that he had to go up to the stage. You gave him a thumbs up as he smiled at you, feeling those nervous butterflies arise in his stomach again.

"Good evening everyone, my name is John..."

You couldn't help but smile as John was giving his speech, you couldn't believe that you got to call him your husband. As all of your attention was focused on John, you felt a tap on your shoulder that had slightly startled you. You turned around, and as you did the smile on your face had started to disappear.

"Tom," you whispered to him, while in shock.

"Hi Y/N, it's good to see you again" he whispered back, feeling butterflies in his stomach since the last time he saw you was seven years ago.

"What are you doing here?" you quietly say to him.

"What do you mean? I have to give a speech after this boring guy is finished with his" he says while laughing quietly and quickly averting his eyes on this 'boring guy' and then quickly back to yours.

You bit the inside of your cheek, trying to control the raging flame that was building up inside of you.

As Tom was looking at you, mesmerized, his gaze went down to your stomach. He could feel his heart stopping, his stomach dropping.

"Oh... are you expecting?" he quietly asks you.

"Yes, I am expecting a beautiful baby boy. And do you know who the father is?" You ask him sternly.

He gulped, "Who?" he asked, starting to feel miserable.

" The 'boring guy' that's giving his speech right now. His name is John, he is the father of my child and my loving husband" You say, holding up the hand that had your wedding ring on it.

Tom could sense that you were clearly angry, "I-I'm sorry I didn't know" he said while looking into your beautiful eyes, knowing that it was for sure that last time he would see them.

As you were about to reply to him, you felt two arms wrapping around your waist from behind. You had already recognized who it was, just by the touch. Something about John made you calm and content.

John kissed the side of your head while you smiled, "Hi my love" he said to you.

You smiled at John, while Tom was starting to feel uncomfortable.

Tom cleared his throat, "I'll leave you guys alone, great speech man" He says to you and John.

John replied, "Thank you, good luck on yours too," he said politely.

Tom smiled and nodded, taking a final look at you... flashbacks to the night where everything went wrong, fully aware that this is the last time he was going to see the most gorgeous woman he had ever met in his life. He walked up to the stage, not at all caring about the speech that he was about to give. He wanted you back in his arms, creating a feeling of being touch-starved. He wanted you to be happy, even if it means that he wasn't going to be in your life anymore.
