What had happened? Where was she? All Katharine could remember was being grabbed by the Black-Eyed Teen during the commotion at the Courthouse and after that everything went black. Now that she was once again conscious, she found herself in a bare room with her wrists tied together by a rope hanging from the ceiling that left her suspended in the air and a cloth tied over her mouth.
And why was everything so cold?
Looking down from the rope that was tied to the ceiling, she saw Ward staring at her. His eyes were critical as if Katharine was no more alive than the harness on a horse's back.
To say that Katharine was unnerved to have a frozen corpse staring at her, would be an understatement. Attempting to get herself free from the rope, she only ceased when Ward uttered: "Your resemblance to her is uncanny as was the resemblance of your friend to him."
Half-frightened and half-confused, Katharine wondered what this frozen corpse trapped in a fate worse than death was even talking about. Who did she resemble? Who did Henry resemble?
Henry! Was he alright? Had he been captured as well? Where was he?
Noticing the Black-Eyed Teen in the corner of the room staring at her as well. "Would you like me to bring Henry Branagh as well, Campbell Ward?" he asked.
"No." Ward replied. "These lovers always come for one another. Young Mr. Branagh will come for her, just as I would have for my wife."
What Katharine saw surprised her. She saw a look of fear appear on the Black-Eyed Teen's countenance as he inquired: "Who will get here first? Henry Branagh or Carchemish?"
