Nakangiting mukha ng boss ko ang bumungad sa akin nang makapasok ako sa opisina niya. Himala nga at nandito ito ngayon kasi madalas ay ang secretary niya lang ang pinapapunta dito. Marami kasi itong negosyo kaya minsan lang ito pumupunta dito.

"Good morning sir. Chef Ken told me that you're looking for me?"

"Oh yes hija but take a sit first and I will tell you some good news."

Nagtataka man ay umupo ako sa upuang nasa harap ng mesa niya. Kinakabahan din ako na excited at the same time.

"Whats the good news sir?"

"You have a good performance in this past months and I always believed in your ability and skills thats why I am going to promote you as the head chef of my restaurant." Anito at gulat ko naman siyang tiningnan.

"Really sir?? Thank you so much!!"

Wow!! This is really a good news!! Hindi pa nga ako nakakaisang taon dito pero promoted na agad ako! At Head Chef pa! Oh my God!! Ganon ko ba napabilib ng husto ang boss kong ito?

"You deserve it anyway." Walang humpay naman ako nagpasalamat muli pero may tanong na namuo sa isip ko.

"How about Head Chef Ken sir if I am going to be the Head chef too?"

"I'm sorry hija, I forgot to mention that you will be assigned to be my Head Chef in my restaurant in the Philippines."

What?? Sa Philippines?? Oh no!! Hindi pwede?

"Where sir? In Manila or Cebu?" I asked kasi doon lang naman ang mga alam kong may branch sila. Matagal na ang branch sa Maynila at bago naman ang branch doon sa Cebu.

Okay lang kung sa Cebu ako iaassign pero kung sa Maynila yon wag nalang kasi hindi pa ako handa.

"It's in Manila because the head chef there will be retiring soon. But, you'll be in Cebu first for the meantime until our branch there will be stable. We hired some new employees and I want you to personally train them before you replace the head chef in Manila."

Magpoprotesta sana ako nang marinig kong sa Maynila ako iiaassign pero nang marinig kong sa Cebu muna ako ay hindi na ako umangal pa. Magtatagal pa naman siguro ako sa Cebu so maihahanda ko pa ang sarili kapag sa Maynila na talaga ako maiaassign.

Pero.. Cebu din yon at aish!! Bahala na nga! Atleast na promote na ako at makukuha ko narin ang posisyong pinapangarap ko!

"Okay sir, I got it and thank you again. Thank you too for believing in my skills. I will do my best and I wont disappoint you on this."

"I know. By the way, all the fare expenses will be on me as well as the food and place you'll going to stay in so you don't have to worry about everything. It's part of your promotion."

What?? As in lahat?? So totoo nga ang mga balita na nasagap ko na libre nga ang mga tinitirhan at pagkain ng mga employees na wala dito sa main branch! Ang galante nga talaga ni boss!

"Oh no sir, the fare is fine with me but I can't accept the place and the food that you'll going to offer. I am actually from the Philippines and in Cebu specifically so I have a place there to stay in."

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Well anyways, you have a week to prepare to go home in the Philippines and to inform your family. You'll be leaving Canada next Saturday."

Oh what again? Sa sabado na agad?? Ang bilis naman!

"Okay sir."

Inexcuse ko na ang sarili ko para makabalik na sa trabaho.

"So? What did he told you?" Bungad sa akin ni Chef Ken na naging kaibigan ko na simula nang magtrabaho ako dito. Mas matanda siya sa akin ng sampung taon at parang kapatid na ang turingan naming dalawa. Mabait siya at yung ibang katrabaho ko dito kaya agad ko silang nakasundo. Yun nga lang may iba paring ayaw sa akin.
