Ace POV-
It completely broke me having to send that message. Knowing I could in no way explain too Leo why I did what I did. He wouldn't understand and I didn't expect him too. I just hoped in the long run that he would see it from my perspective.
I grabbed my book and decided to go to the library to try and calm down. I sat down in the back and was about to open my book but was stopped.
''What the hell is your problem!?'' I looked up and saw Leo looking at me with a hurt expression, his voice sounding tired and drained from energy.
''Leo...'' I said quietly but was interrupted.
''Don't. It's Leon to you.'' I opened my mouth slightly and looked up at him.
''I don't know what to say. I really don't know what to say'' My voice cracked, and I used all my abilities to stop myself from sheading a tear.
''Is that the kind of person you are? Is that how you treat people, with that little respect. Are you really gonna pull that same thing on me, just like with Lily. Dump me in front of everyone and make it clear how stupid I was. Yes, I might have been extremely dumb to believe you felt the same way about me as I did you. But that shit is low, even for you. I thought you changed.'' A single tear fell down his face and he turned around to walk away. I sat back and wondered how I could explain it to him.
"Boys if you will please explain yourselves for this unnecessary loud conversation in the library'' Ms Evans was leaning up against a bookshelf with her arms crossed looking at the both of us.
''What's going on between you too?'' she asked.
Leo looked at her and started to try and explain it. I know he hated getting in trouble. ''Someone happen to be a real jerk, I think you should have this talk with him not me.'' He said before he then left.
Ms Evans slowly sat down beside me and looked out the window. ''So Ace, what kind of problem happened here. Seems to be more than just a simple misunderstanding. Perhaps something was going on between you and Leon?''
I was tired of always keeping everything to myself, so I decided to just tell her what all this was about. After all it couldn't get much worse.
''My parents don't support gay couples... They told me they would send me to a boarding school if I didn't realise what I was doing was 'disgusting'.'' I said and swallowed hard. I stayed silent and looked out the window as well.
''Hmm, you know they can't do that without your permission right?'' she said thinking a little. I saw an opportunity and hoped that what she said was true.
''What do you mean by that?''
''If I remember correctly, you signed a paper when you got the scholarship for this college. You also needed a parent's signature, and you have that. Which means they can't get you to leave here unless they have your consent. Also, when your scholarship ends, you will be an adult. In other words, your parents won't be able to make the decisions for you. Now I think you should maybe try to fix a little dispute. And Ace one last thing before I leave, I'm not supposed to talk about the different scholarships and signatures, so you got none of this information from me.'' Mrs Evans smirked at me before standing up and leaving the library.
If what she said was correct, I didn't need to avoid Leo, I could finally apologise to him. I quickly took out my phone to text Patrick before I would go to Leo.
Please never contact me again. And by the way, I date whoever the fuck I want to date, dad. - Ace
I turned off my phone and grabbed my book, I then exited the library and headed for Surfer boy's dorm. I was so grateful for Mrs Evans, if it wasn't for her, I would have never known about that contract, I completely forgot about it. And how I had gotten my mom to sign it by saying she wouldn't have to see me ever again after that. I knocked on dorm 156 but got no answer, the door was locked but I was absolutely sure Leo was inside.
''Leo I'm really sorry, please wait in there I'll come back'' I had gotten an idea, I knew he wouldn't just open the door, so I rushed back to my dorm and grabbed my wallet before a walked to the ice cream shop Surfer boy loved so much.
I entered the little shop and smiled at the attendant; it was the same man as last time.
''Hello there, Ace, was it?'' the man said. I nodded.
''Yes, I'm here to get ice cream for Leo.''
''Ah yes, I see so chocolate ice cream of course, that's his favourite'' he took out a box and started scooping up the ice cream. Then handed me the box. I got out my card to pay but the man shook his head. ''No this is on the house, just make sure he gets it okay. And if it's not too much to ask, can you please make sure to say bye to both Leo and Claire. Tell them I'll miss them.'' he said smiling warmly at me.
''Yes, thank you very much... Kalvin'' I said reading his name tag. ''I'll make sure to pass the message''
Kalvin waved me out and I walked back towards campus.
I knocked on Leo dorm once more still getting no answer.
''Leo, I have ice cream and it will melt if you don't let me in''
''Is it from Kalvin's store?'' I heard a voice ask.
''Yes'' the doorknob slowly turned, and Leo stood in the door looking up and me and then down at the box I was holding. I handed him the ice cream and he didn't hesitate to accept it. He walked back in and grabbed a spoon to start eating. I walked in after him and made sure to take of my shoes and close the door after me.
''Leo I'm so sorry I'm and idiot'' he nodded agreeing with my statement and continued to eat his ice cream.
''My parents are homophobic assholes. But I won't put all the blame on them, I'm sorry I texted that message to you. I shouldn't have.''
''You're right... You shouldn't have. But I forgive you, I know it must be hard with your parents.'' I smiled as I looked down at the boy.
''Thank you, Surfer boy, for being so understanding''
''I know I'm great, now go get a spoon you weirdo so you can eat some ice cream'' I chuckled but didn't argue, I walked over to get a spoon and sat down beside him enjoying the ice cream.
''Oh, and Leo I had to say bye from Kalvin and make sure to tell you that he misses you'' a little smile formed on Leo's lips at the mention of Kalvin.
''Thanks, I really miss him too'' he mumbled the last part.
