> I will not sign this contract.

No, I will not sign this contract. I can't do this. I can't tie myself with these guys and a boy band for 3 months. I know we still need that money but I'm sure I can find something else to do. I just can't do this. Sorry Emma.

"What's wrong, Miss Evans?"

"Sorry, I-" I swallowed my saliva. "I just can't do it."

"What's going on? Why can't you sign the contract?"

"Is there something wrong?"

"I'm...sorry."

After that, I ran away leaving two confused gentlemen behind. It's just not me. I can't do this.

*ring ring ring*

"He-hello?"

"Yani!!!! Are you out of your mind?! The manager just called me and said you ran away in the middle of the contract signing! Are you serious?!" Emma shouted over the phone furiously.

"Thanks for all the help Emma but I don't think I can do it. It's just not me. And...I miss my family. Maybe I can just go back so Massachusetts and find something there so I can see my family. Father needs me this time."

"That's what you should have considered earlier! He needs you! You just let go of a golden opportunity! Where are you going to find twenty thousand dollars now huh? Where?"

"I'll think of something. Thanks Emma."

"Wait, you don't-" *teet teet teet teet*

I went home directly and started packing my things. I rummaged through my old purses, treasure boxes and piggy banks, hoping to find the last $500 I need to pay Auntie from next door and get out of here. If I stay here further, I won't see Dad and that company might sue me or Emma. Not legally but maybe when they get the chance in the future.

I finished packing up my things and decided to leave my keyboard because it's too big to carry. I just brought my guitar, my sheets, all the clothes I have and $400 extra. I don't know If I can get there with only this but I just want to go home. I can't do this anymore.

*knock knock*

"Yani! Where are you going without all that stuff?"

"..." I hand over the $500 to Aunti without saying anything.

"Y-you're leaving?"

"..." I could only nod.

"Where are you going? Are you going to leave your career here?"

"I-" I could feel a tear escape my eyes. "I have no choice."

And then I explained everything to Auntie. Da capo ( a musical term that means from the top/ go back to the beginning). She understood me and my dilemma and wished me luck on the path I choose. I'm slightly glad that she didn't judge me but her words really hit me. Is this really the time to leave my career?

I guess it is.

And so, Yani chose to abandon her career in New York and go back to Massachusetts because of her hard situation. They didn't find enough money for her dad's surgery which caused the painful death of her dad. Also, because of financial problems, Mike had to stop studying and help his mom and sister work in order for Jane to keep studying.

Yani's name in the music industry became forgotten. Her income with the small gigs in Massachusetts made it hard for her. She ended up marrying a farmer and living a simple life. Mike also learned the hardships of life in and early age and gave up his dream to become a popular musician and performer too. Jane became a scholar in a university thanks to her intelligence. If not, she could have ended just like her siblings.

Yani's fate was miserable. She was so close to her dream, and now she regret not signing that contract. It broke her heart everyday thinking, 'what if I signed that contract?'. But this was the path she chose. If only she could turn back time...

End: Broken Dreams

!Author's Note! Aw, you got the bad ending! Why didn't you sign the contract? The story goes on from there :) I'll give you another chance though. Want to continue with the real story? Go to Chapter 1 and start from there. Thank you for reading! I hope you like it!
