3 weeks later

Saville moved swiftly across the halls, her arms swinging at her sides as she made her way to her Master’s chamber. She moved with urgency but remained calm enough to keep a straight face. Upon reaching his door, she raised her fist to the wood but froze. She heard another voice with her Master and realized it belonged to the youngest of the Markovic brothers, Edward. She didn’t need to press her ears up to the door to hear them clearly. Their voices were raised loud enough to hear.

“I asked you to make it quick and clean. I never asked you to start a riot,” Alfredo growled. “Now we have another village in an uproar and still no sign of the Captain and his company."

“It could not be helped Master. It was the girl…”

“I do not want to hear your excuses! I want you to find your brother and bring him back here!”

Before her Master could continue, Saville cautiously poked her head into the room, carefully opening the door with a creak. She always had a soft spot for the Markovic brothers, especially for Edward. She was never sure whether it was because she was smitten or if she was just fond of soldiers.

Alfredo sighed deeply and waved away his disappointing subordinate. “You have three days Edward,” Alfredo said calmly. “Three days before I come for you myself.”

Edward departed from his leader’s sight, subtly daring to glance at Saville. The minute their eyes met he looked away and left the room without turning back.

Once he was gone, Saville entered with a bow. She felt guilty for having witnessed Edward being reprimanded but hid her pity from her Master.

“Ugh, rise.” Alfredo said with disinterest. Saville looked up to find him standing by his window, staring out blankly. She stood at his request and carefully dusted her knees that were draped in a blood red velvet skirt. She had looked down for a moment to inspect the state of her attire when suddenly she noticed the feet of her master were now only centimeters from her own. Saville raised her eyes to meet the gaze of the elder as he stared down at her with a perverted hunger.

“My Lord?” Saville’s voice was no louder than a whisper as she felt her master’s eyes burning, his gaze tearing at her clothing, as though longing to see beneath the black lace and velvet that covered her upper body. She wanted to jerk away when she felt the cold and bony touch of his fingers against her cheek. She wanted to shudder as he inched his wrinkled face towards hers but she kept her composure. She remained unmoving and her face was blank, revealing no emotion.

Alfredo’s lips hovered just above hers, so close that Saville would only have to pout and they would have pressed together. But she made no such move and was completely still. The elder smirked before he pulled away, turning his back on her.

“I have no interest in you today. You seem much less…” he paused as he bit his lip. “…appealing.” He sighed deeply. “So, you have received word?”

Saville stopped herself from breathing her own sigh of relief as she stepped forward, producing a small sheet of parchment hidden in her brassiere. “Yes m’lord. The coven from the North has agreed to join us.”

Alfredo gave a loud clap and spun round to face his servant. He took two long strides and once again, Saville found herself only centimeters from him. Her master placed his hands on her shoulders and her bore down on her with a smile. Although it was not the proud kind of smile that one would give to reward. It was crazed, psychotic, demonic.

“You, my dear, have never ceased to amaze.” He began to caress her arm, gently sliding his hand up and down. “But before I reward you, I have one last thing I would like you to do.”
