Hey, look! It's a Cashton picture where Ashton actually looks happy!
Dedicated to no one because this is a shitty idea I came up with by myself.
"Why are we even doing this?" Calum grumbled.
"It's a test," Ashton replied, setting his sleeping bag next to Calum's. "To see if the girls and boys can resist each other." When he said 'resist' he made quotation marks with his fingers.
"I know, you idiot. It was a rhetorical question."
"Well then." Ashton frowned and sat down on his sleeping bag.
"But they're practically begging us to have sex. There are condoms and lube right there!"
And there was. There was a table in the lunchroom that had condoms of different flavors and colors on it, along with lube.
The school had decided that it would be educational to lock the students in the school for a night and have them sleep in the same room. A teacher guarded every door, and they would record the students who left by having them sign their name on a piece of paper on a clipboard. They would then call out the name, to make sure the student had recorded the right one, and if another student said that was their name, a teacher would go find the files with the names and pictures of students and would sort out the problem.
If a student left without saying anything, teachers would assume they were meeting up with another individual to have sex, and they would disqualify them from the challenge. But, if a student said they had to use the bathroom, a teacher would go with them and make sure that no one else was in the bathroom, and then stand outside of the bathroom and wait until the student came out, and would then escort them back to the gymnasium, where everyone was staying.
The condoms and lube were up for grabs, and sometimes people took the stuff just because they might want it for later, and not to use during the challenge.
The people who lasted until morning were all given a one hundred percent in their health class (which they were required to take every year) for completing the challenge, and the challenge counted for forty percent of their final grade for the semester.
It was sort of like a tradition for South Sea Secondary School. A stupid, fucked up tradition. And it was always held in May. It lasted from eight o'clock one Saturday morning to eight o'clock the next morning.
As a bonus, the people who stayed awake during the whole thing were each given twenty dollars.
Ashton and Calum had completed the challenge all five years they'd done it, and they had also stayed awake through the whole thing each time. This was their final time, and their hardest.
They were in year twelve, and were on the football team. And, they were sort of-ish seeing girls.
Calum had accidentally hit a cheerleader in the face with a football he hit too hard and not at all towards the goal, and since then the two had been seeing each other a bit, but they weren't official.
Ashton had had a few make out sessions with a girl in his Physics class in the back of the library, and he thought she was a great kisser, but a bit too clingy. You finger a girl once and suddenly she thinks you're dating.
"Just don't think about it," Ashton said. "And don't look at Chelsea. Just think about how hideous her face was the day after you hit her with your football."
Calum grimaced. "Yeah, it was pretty bad. It was all red and blotchy. And you just think of how clingy Alice is."
Ashton nodded, and neither of them acknowledged the tension between them.
