Jilliane

20 minutes and a grueling ending to a gruesome movie later, Harry was then wheeled out of the X-Ray room, squinting his eyes as if he was blinded by the fluorescent bulbs illuminating the empty waiting room. I smiled at him and gathered his stuff. I walked to him and gave him his things. He mumbled a thank you and smiled a tired smile. We said our 'good-byes' and 'thank yous' to the Radiologist in charge as I started to wheel Harry back to the lift that would take us back to the ER.

"So, how was the X-Ray?" I asked, wanting to break the awkward air of silence that was engulfing us.

"It was alright, I guess. It was blinding though. I think I saw my life flashing before my eyes. Get it? Flashing? Hehe." Harry joked and looked up at me. I looked down and glared at him, trying my best not to laugh at the lameness of that joke.

"That was really bad. Even Chris Rock would slap you square in the face if he heard that joke." I said, rolling my eyes.

"Hey, don't even deny it. You're just holding in your laugh. Just admit it, I'm the funniest guy on the planet. Even Adam Sandler agrees." He said as we reached the elevator doors. He leaned in forward and pressed the down button.

"So, are you like, a nurse or something?" He asked. I always get asked by that same question, and I always answer the same thing.

"Nope. I'm actually working as a doctor's assistant for my internship. I'm studying medicine over there at Boston University. I only have three more years, yay." I said, clapping a bit to show how excited I am. With coffee being your only source of energy doesn't really help in showing how happy you are.

"So, a doctor huh?" He said, nodding slightly.

"Yeah. I like the idea of saving someone." I said, smiling a bit. Right then and there, the elevator dinged and it's metal doors opened. I wheeled Harry in and he again pressed the G button. The ride was really short since the elevator didn't stop for any other floor but ours.

Once we reached the ground floor, I wheeled Harry to his cubicle. I rushed to his side and held on to his waist for support. I helped him sit down on his hospital bed and held on to his back to help him lie back down.

"Hey, thanks for everything that you've done for me today, by the way. You were really helpful." He smiled, in a very cute way. Now I understand what more that a million girls were swooning about. His smile is very different. It's the type that gives you the tingles, the type that makes you crave to see his smile more. His smile was the type that makes you want to work hard to see that smile all over again.

"It's nothing, really. It's only part of the job." I smiled and blushed a bit. Mentally facepalming because I just gushed about Harry's smile in front of him. I must've looked like a complete fool.

I spread the thin blanket out and placed it above his long body. It didn't cover him completely, it only covered until just a few inches below his knee. He was that tall.

"If there's anything else that you need, just press that red button on the side of your bed. Your X-Ray readings will be out in about 20 minutes or so. So please stay put and be comfy. And expect Dr. Patterson to come back to relay your situation and she'll tell you the things needed to be done and the do's and don'ts. So, yeah." I said, fixing up his wheelchair and waved goodbye.

"Wait, could you please do me a favor?" He asked, sitting up.

"Yeah sure, what is it?" I asked, turning around to face him.

"Could you please call my friends back in the waiting room? You do know them, right?"

"Of course I do, who doesn't?" I said, obviously.
