Memory

I remember everything that happened on that dreadful night. Jake and I were patrolling the base and suddenly explosions started happening all around the base. A hellish 3 hours after the bombs and many lives lost. Jake took a bullet to the spine, I was able to stop the bleeding. There is 100% chance of him not being able to walk anymore, after the bullet gets taken out. I stayed right next to him for the rest of that battle. Keeping him safe, alive, and damn I did that job very well.

Present

I'm sitting next to Jake on Valkyrie 1-6. I check my rifle that the chamber is loaded. I then look at Jake.

Y/n:"You and I both know the only reason I'm here is because I saved your life. While you get to run around in an Avatar." I say to him

He looks at me after I say this.

Jake:"Listen Y/n, I am forever thankful that you saved my life, but you are here for another reason. Your ability to tame any animal is another reason you're here. They want you to tame and lead a pack of viperwolves. As well as one Thanator." He replies

Y/n:"They're asking me to try to tame a Thanator." I respond

Just then the instructor told us to put our masks on and get our gear ready. Everyone else as well as Jake and I got our masks on. I put my duffle back on my back and got ready.

Y/n:"Want me to walk with you?" I ask Jake

Jake:"No Y/n I'll just slow you down. Go with the others." He answers

I nod my head. Just then the door opens and we all start moving at almost the exact same time, jogging out of the plane. We stay single file as we head towards the doors. As we pass two soldiers I hear one comment saying "Look at all this fresh meat". I just continue forward. After all of us got inside and to the breifing room we took our masks off. I sat down in the back at an empty table.

Quaritch:"You're not in Kansas anymore! You're on Pandora! Ladies and gentlemen, respect that fact. Every second of every day. If there is a hell, you might want to go there for some R&R after a tour on Pandora. Out there, beyond that fence, every living thing that crawls, flies or squats in the mud wants to kill you and eat your eyes for jujubes. We have an indigenous population of humanoids called the Na'vi. They're fond of arrows dipped in a neurotoxin that will stop your heart in one minute. And they have bones reinforced with naturally occurring carbon fiber. They're very hard to kill. As head of security, it is my job to keep you alive. I will not succeed, not with all of you. If you wish to survive, you need to cultivate a strong mental attitude. You've got to obey the rules. Pandora rules." He says

He then goes on and says the rules. While he does this I noticed Jake came up beside me. We both pay attention to the Head of Security. After I don't even know how long everyone is dismissed, until I'm about to stand up and leave.

Quaritch:"Soldier, I've been informed that you're the one that can tame the viperwolves." He says

I stand up and walk infront of him.

Y/n:"Sir, I've been able to tame anywhere from elephants to rats. Although I've never tried to tame a viperwolf pack, or a thanator." I say

He chuckles a little.

Quaritch:"Son, you've got skill that I've never seen. I want to know if you can tame a pack of viperwolves, and a thanator." He says

Y/n:"Sir, I can do it. Do you also have any captured viperwolfs that I can start on?" I say confidently

He smiles when I says this, he also nods his head.

Quaritch:"Yes, we caught a pack of 20. They're cages are near the linking tables room. I look forward for your report when you have one. You're dismissed." He says
