Months went by and the three found themselves in a new groove. After the night Lily told the guys she and Jack were officially dating things changed between them. Dallas and Asher were still very present for the twins, but they seemed to back away by a step in regards to Lily and it upset her. She didn't understand why until Labor Day weekend.
Jack was in Houston for a conference and Madere suggested they go to the Riverwalk for the day. The guys were so invested in the twins but they rarely talked to her and it hurt. Lily felt like she was the 18-year-old girl that was forgotten and thrown away like yesterday's trash all over again.
She buried it. Her feelings. She buried it deep and smiled for her children, but the guys knew something was up. "I'm going to take the kids to look at this vendor." Asher said giving Dallas a look.
Lily and Dallas sat on the bench awkwardly. "I know sometime has been up with you these past few months. We didn't say anything because we were just trying to do what you wanted." Lily looked at him stupidly.
"What did I want, Dallas? You think I wanted you two to back off and treat me like I didn't matter at all to you all over again?" Dallas shook his head. "That's not what this was. We were trying to respect you and your relationship." Lily scoffed. "Lily, I mean..." Lily turned to look at him at he paused and saw he was looking at someone.
She saw an older blonde woman with an older man and two teenage daughters. "Dallas is that..." She turned to him as he nodded and stood up. Lily followed him as he walked closer to the woman. They were a few feet away when the woman noticed them. Her eyes widened when she took him in. It looked as though she was cataloging his face. "Dallas." She finally whispered and Lily saw a tear drop from her eye.
Dallas looked at Lily with broken eyes. "I can't be here." He whispered and Lily nodded grabbing onto his hand to leave. "WAIT!" She called out. "Dallas, baby, please wait." Lily watched the sadness morph into anger. "You don't get to call me that. You don't get to call me anything!" Dallas snapped. The woman sighed lowly. "I know that you're mad and you have every right to be." Dallas went to say something but felt small hands on his leg. "Papa."
Dallas sighed before picking up his son. His mother stared at Austin with wide eyes before smiling. "Hi, baby." Austin smiled at her. "Hi, I'm Austin. What's your name?" Lily was shocked that her grumpy son was being so kind.
Dallas watched as his mom's eyes softened. "My name is Addison. Did you know we're both named after cities in this great state?" Austin nodded his head. "Mama said all the men on Papa's side are named after Texas cities." Austin said proudly pointing at Lily.
"He's beautiful." Addison said to Lily who gave a curt smile. "Your son is too, but you weren't there to watch him grow up so you didn't know that." Lily snapped causing Addison's eyes to widen before nodding.
"You left me with that asshole to be abused. You couldn't care less, but why would you." Dallas spat as he pointed to Addison's family watching from a few feet away. "You got the family you clearly wanted, right Addison. You seem really happy." Lily squeezed his hand before turning to face him.
"Let's go." She said pulling him with her. Austin looked between his father and the blonde woman and shrugged before waving at her. Addison let out a watery chuckle before waving at her grandson. She cataloged his face too, because she knew that she would never see either again.
Lily let the kids tackle Dallas and distract him while she filled Asher in. He was worried about Dallas and so was Lily. When they got home Dallas said he needed to run and errand but they knew where he was going.
"I'll put them to bed. You go get him." Lily nodded before calling an uber to take her to Flannigan's. It was a pub style bar in town that Dallas was obsessed with when they were younger.
