CHAPTER 1: THE BEGINNING

THE COLD AIR stung as you took a deep breath, a pleasant chill entered your airways. You pumped your legs faster, hurried footsteps pounded on the peach colored pavement. Calf muscles tighten as the air mists when you breathe out. You tuck your hands into your hoodie, hoping to bring warmth back into your numb fingers. As much as you loved the cold, freezing your limbs off wasn't something you were a fan of. You would have been walking back home after your Taekwondo practice. You would've got a ride from one of your teammates but you decided to stay an extra few minutes to work on your technique and ended up being there til dark. You cursed yourself for getting distracted. Your muscles ached as you walked in the cold weather.

You were walking alone because your brother was with his stupid friends that his asshole girlfriend forced into him and all your other friends had left right after school ended to either study or help their parents. You'd been trying to get your brother to see your point of view and understand that he was going down a bad path.

Sure, you both were feared in a sense at Hyosan High School - you for your amazing sports(wo)manship and status as the top Taekwondo champion of Hyosan. Yoon Y/N was at the same level as Jang Ha-ri, the archery champion of Hyosan High school. The two of you had a healthy rivalry between you to see who could achieve the most in their respective sport. Your brother, Yoon Gwinam, used to do the sport with you until he was removed from the team because his grades dropped. He also misused his training to bully other students. He got away with that because he was Y/N's brother and the school administrators didn't want to taint the school's name or their sports champion's names, so they let it slide and turned a blind eye. Even the lovely Miss Sunhwa Park turned away. You both got respect from everyone because of your roles in the sports team. Your brother on the other hand, he was intimidating as shit so people mostly just feared him. And that's how he ended up running with the assholes that bully others, along with Lee Su-hyeok. Lee Su-hyeok, the athletic and handsome bully who had an odd liking for a certain student.

Then there was Jang Wu-jin, the sweet and caring brother of Jang Ha-ri. Y/N was always by his side, no matter what. The pair met one day during first grade and since their families were close, they got closer too. Let me fast forward to year 7, just before they entered high school. The childhood best friends developed crushes on one another and surprisingly, Wu-jin fessed up one day when they were watching a movie at the Yoon residence. That's how we got to where we are now. Y/N had been dating Wu-jin for a couple of months now. Similarly, her twin had been with Nayeon for the same amount of time. Somehow, the twins had started dating their significant others at the same time.

The only difference was, Y/N actually loved Wu-jin. He was the sweetest boy she had ever met. Although it was just at the beginning of high school, her first relationship was beautiful and she knew it was love. But it wasn't exciting. Yeah, he took her out on dates and they had study dates or his sister Ha-ri would take them on weekends away. It just felt like something was missing. They loved each other but it wasn't the love they thought it was. It was a non romantic love they shared. They weren't in love as they thought they were.
