"So that's two that didn't recognize me," Wolfie thought to himself as he headed towards his first class of the day. He heard the whispered jeers from his first name behind his back, with even Hector laughing at him, though in the back of his mind, there was the thought that if Hector did recognize him, he'd still make fun of him for his name.
And that hurt.
Thankfully, there wasn't anybody he knew or anybody from homeroom in his first-period class. Wolfie found himself thankful that the teacher assigned seats in the class and would reassess where students sat during the year based on each student's progress, which in Wolfie's mind meant they would only make changes if there were a need to.
It meant nobody got to hear his first name either as he sat at the table, listening to the teacher drone on about safety issues before handing out a written exam to see where students' knowledge regarding potions where making Wolfie swallow, as everything he knew regarding potions was home study, his mind instantly wondering if this would result in a seat change, leaving him dreading his second period of Magical Theory even more.
He found the class quickly, yet stood outside the classroom staring, looking in when he felt someone slide their arm through his, making him look up at the person as they said, "I see we're in the same class for Magical Theory."
"I..." Wolfie's eyes blinked as Wanda tugged him into the room as the teacher watched, one of their eyebrows raised, possibly wondering if they were dating, which sent a deep blush across Wolfie's cheeks at the thought of dating Wanda, remembering how she'd said the other day she wouldn't mind being his girlfriend. "That doesn't make sense."
"Oh! It's good that the two of you know each other already. Students can sit where they want once they check themselves off the attendance list. I'm the fun, Magical Theory teacher."
"Uh..." That made Wolfie stare at the teacher, wondering if he'd ended up with yet another crazy teacher as Wanda tugged him over so she could check them off the list, only to feel her nails dig into his arm. He turned his head to look at her. "Is something the matter?"
"No. Don't worry about it," Wanda said, tugging him away so he could sit next to her, though the look on her face said something was definitely the matter. She quickly changed the subject, smiling at him. "So, how did your first day of school go?"
"Eh," Wolfie glanced away.
"That great? I mean, you're a genius, so..."
"You'll likely hear about homeroom through the grapevine."
"Hey, I'd rather hear it from you," Wanda said.
He turned and tried smiling at her. "It has to do with my first name and why I avoid using it." The way her mouth twisted as she folded her arms across her chest said she didn't get it. "You of all people know that it starts with..."
He grimaced, his mouth twisting up. Wanda closed her eyes. "Of course, I know what it starts with. It..." Her eyes snapped open. "They didn't."
Wolfie looked away.
"They did, didn't they? And I bet it was the guys in your homeroom, right?"
"Well, at first."
"Did everyone join in?"
Wolfie turned and looked at her, trying to smile. "It wasn't that bad. Not everyone. It's just..."
"Yeah. Not exactly what you want following you around on your first day of school," Wanda said, frowning. "And first period."
"Potions," Wolfie muttered, but then—
There was a look of disappointment on Wanda's face.
"Man! Why couldn't we have had the same teacher!"
