Back at the Jeon's residence, Hye Kyo's phone rang and she immediately answered it.
"Hello, Jin? What's taking you so long?.....Hospital?....Oh my....so Taehyung is now unconscious?..."
While Hye Kyo was on the phone, ahe didn't notice that Jungkook woke up already and heard the last thing she said. Jungkook sprang up from the couch and snatched Hye Kyo's phone from her.
"What the — " Hye Kyo uttered.
"Hyung, what happened?! Where's Taehyung?!" A panic-stricken Jungkook yelled.
"Jungkook, calm down. He's okay. He had a severe headache. Doctor's theory is that his long forgotten memories are resurfacing." Jin said.
"It just happened out of the blue?!" Jungkook asked.
"I'm sorry, Jungkook." Jin said.
"What did you do?!" Jungkook asked, starting to get agitated.
"I needed to do it, Jung—"
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?!" Jungkook shouted.
"Jungkook! That's your hyung you're talking to!" Hye Kyo shouted back at him.
Jungkook didn't listen. "TELL ME WHAT YOU DID!"
"I mentioned your name." Jin said.
"THAT'S IT?!"
"Your full name." Jin said with a sigh.
Jungkook's hands started trembling. He lost his grip on the phone and it fell almost at the same time as his legs buckled, making him fall on his knees.
"No, no, no. This can't be...he will hate me. No, this is not...he won't forgive me. It's my fault....my fault. I killed them." Jungkook said as he started to cry.
Hye Kyo went down on her knees and cupped her son's face.
"Jungkook, he won't hate you. He won't blame you because IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. Please stop torturing yourself. It hurts me to see you like this, my baby."
"Eomma, you don't hate me right?" Jungkook said as his tears continue to fall.
"I can never hate you, Jungkook. You and your siblings are my life. That accident was a blessing in disguise for me. If that didn't happen, I might have lost you forever. I won't survive that, Jungkook. Your father may have beaten me up good that night but I didn't feel the pain. What hurt me more was when he took you away. He was so drunk and high. Even if you sat still in that car, he wouldn't have been able to drive properly. It was an ACCIDENT Jungkook. An accident that nobody wanted to happen. You are not at fault. Please remember that."
"But, Taehyung, eomma. Will he think that way too?" Jungkook desperately asked.
"He will, Jungkook. And he will be grateful to you for protecting him all these years. If I was in his shoes, I would be touched."
"What if he would feel otherwise?"
"Then, we will all be here for lyou, Jungkook. You have done so much for our family and I appreciate it so much. But, I'm freeing you from the burden of taking care of us. Your father's responsibility to our family was never yours, baby. Even if he lived from that accident, he wouldn't have been a husband and a father that we all wished him to be. So you shouldn't burden yourself and think that just because he died, our family had to face all the hardships we've been through. You don't have to carry on your father's responsibility, Jungkook.
I just want my son back. Can you just be my son and let me take care of you this time? Hmmm?" Hye Kyo cried.Jungkook hugged his mother tight and sobbed...a part of the load he felt on his chest lifted and he was able to breathe a little better.
A few minutes later, Jungkook stopped crying and started to feel more relaxed.
