"You should consider taking a break one day." I wasn't surprised by my roommates comment. Josh Taylor found excuses to stay away from running at all costs. He devoted himself to the weights and swears cardio will ruin his body. I shake my head and laugh quietly to myself. "I'm sure running isn't going to kill me."
"Okay LeAnna" he smirks at me while catching a piece of popcorn in his mouth. He has a flashing smile and great body, dirty blonde hair, and beautiful green eyes, but he will always be my best friend. "You should get going," he insisted. "It's getting late and LA is full of crazy men. Your body and looks just attract those kinds of people."
"Oh Josh, shut up, your just finding more excuses" I giggle at him and walk to the door. "Oh yeah, I'm going to stop by the gym on the way home, I need to hit the weights as well, do you need me for anything?" I ask. "No, but I'll probably be gone when you get back." He replied with a grin. I knew what that meant. He was going to spend the night at some sluts house. He had a rough child hood and finds even worst girls to be with because he doesn't think he deserves better. "Alright. I'm breaking in the new kitchen tomorrow morning so you better get your ass back before morning!" I yell at him And with that I walk out the door. I hop into the elevator and head down to the main floor. I smiled at the door man when he let me out into the street as I put in my headphones. The smells and sounds of LA are all so new to me. I come from the other side of the country . My roommate and I decided to change our surroundings and leave Michigan. I would never imagine living here. The excitement in the air makes you feel alive and full of energy. I rounded my heels and took a deep breath before I began my 3 mile run. I enjoyed the trees lined up on my street and enjoyed the energy of the area. I hope I blend in, but I feel like a new kid in school. I try my best to run without a silly grin on my face as I look at my new surroundings. The sensory of the place is just so incredible and the smells are even a new experience for me. The traffic is crazy and there is always something going on. From camera men following famous women to movie premieres. It's amazing. Real LA people just ignore it as if they didn't notice. They didn't smile at the paparazzi like I did. I just found it interesting that people make it their life to take pictures of someone. I was starry eyed to my new city and it showed. I played it cool as I walked into the gym I just became a member at yesterday. The gym is as amazing as the city. Three stories and full of all the equipment you could think of. I ended up spending almost two hours working out. I decided it was time to leave after I saw it was nearly 11:00 at night.
In my small town, life would be at a standstill while the town slept. But LA had a different kind of life at night. As I walked out of the gym building I decided to take a different route home. It was a little longer but I wanted to site see some more. I rounded a corner and started to jog again. I was lost in my thoughts when I ran into a woman standing outside some kind of club I think. There was a red carpet out so i figured it must be one of those movie things or something. After I apologized to the lady, which gave me a ugly look, I turned around and went towards the back of the building so I could miss the huge crowd out front. I started jogging towards the back entrance of the building getting lost once again in my music and thoughts, when I found myself tripping over a pair of shoes and fall flat on my ass. I am looking at a pair of black oxfords draped in tailored black slacks. I took out my headphones and brushed off my hands as I waited for the man to move out of my way, and when he didn't I arched my back to allow my line of sight to rise. The three piece suit hit a few of my hot buttons, but it was the tall, long haired man and what seemed to be a built body inside that almost made me fall straight on my back, his face did the trick. Wow. Just........holy cow.
He sank down into a crouch in front of me. I could tell he wasn't someone to be taken lightly. He was at eye level and his crystal blue eyes caused me to forget everything around me. I just stared at him. He reached out to grab my hand but I couldn't move a muscle. He stared back at me with a poker face and then lifted me back onto my feet. I finally realized how stupid I must have looked and brushed off my shorts and stuck out my hand. "Sorry...I'm umm...er.... I'm LeAnna." I stuttered. If I could slap myself I would. He took my hand and something in the air changed between us. His expression grew intense and you could sense the vibrant power he had. "LeAnna, are you all right?" His voice was smooth and had a rasp that made my knees go weak. My lips were dry so I licked them before answering. "I'm fine. Thanks." He let go of me and shook his head and fixed the cuffs on his suit. My God.
He is younger than I thought at first he must be in his early twenties. I looked at him and he was still gazing at me. His suit is outrageously expensive and his body worked it well. I hate myself for feeling so awkward but I can't move or hardly talk and I cant break away from the look he has on me. While he looks like the perfect man, I must look like a sweaty rag. Ugh. I can't believe this. He probably is disgusted with how I look right now. "Are you sure you are okay? You should go sit down for a moment."
I could feel my face getting red. "I didn't mean to run into you. I guess I just got lost in my run" I giggle and look down at my feet. I should probably avoid this all together and start running again, I just wanna be home, but I also don't want to move. He smiled at me. He shook his hand out again and I as soon as we touched I felt a shock run through my body. "I hope we can do this again sometime" my pulse jumped when he tightened his grip on me. He let go of me and was escorted into a black suv. I watched him leave and enjoyed the view of his backside. Even the way he walked screamed sexy. "Enough. Get a grip." I tell myself and turned around to the city life of LA. Ah, LA, I thought, feeling settled and excited for the new start in my life and headed home.
