Summer was over and it was time for her to go back to school, she arrived at her apartment and opened the door, the mess that they had left was still there but all of Bens things were gone, his side of the closet was empty, he left his dresser drawer opened and emptied, he was in a hurry, afraid to be caught, as of he was sneaking out, the nightstand on his side off the bed was empty but the picture of us together was the only thing left on it. The basket of laundry was left over turned on the floor. Paloma removed her backpack and put it on the hook behind the door, placing her luggage on the bed she started to unpack her things and put them away, the last things was her toothbrush, she placed it in the bathroom, it would only be hers sitting in the cup now. All the things we had gotten together as a couple were still sitting in the same spot, he left everything behind. Did he really believe that she was a girl from a lowly family that came form nothing. They had never talked about their parents until very recently, when they became more serious about their relationship, she had no idea that Ben's parents worked for her fathers company. She never went on shopping sprees or to fancy restaurants, her father had always been very generous, he paid for everyone of her expenses and had black card, which she rarely used and that was apart from the allowance her father gave her, and that is was she used for her everyday expenses. She did not show of her wealth, her father had always warned her, not to, if she truly wanted to find someone that loved her for her. He said he did not care of his background, he wanted her to be truly happy. But was it ridiculous that they thought of her as a gold digger now,? At least that was what Ben and his family thought.

Paloma stepped out when her class was finished, no Ben, not today, not tomorrow not ever again. She walked down the corridor to her next class, she knew she wouldn't see him, they knew each other's schedules and there was no reason for them to bump into each other. What a coward he was. Paloma never stoped going to her favorite café or pizza place, the next two years were going to be sad, cold and lonely.

Paloma bumped into Ben a few times over the next two years, but it was never at the places were they used to go together , is was as if he avoided her at all costs. One of the times it was when she went with a group in her class to see a movie, which was not something she frequently did but since Ben had broken up with her, the little free time she had, she started socializing more with the people in her class. They were standing in front of them in line, holding hands, talking, laughing, and kissing. He called her babe and she felt her heart break. That, that was it, he had completely moved one without a second thought. She was so different from Paloma, she was too thin, no body or curves to her, with plain short blond hair.

It was here finally, she was done with school, she walked down with her class accepting her diploma, it was official, she whooped, clapped and threw her cap up in the air like everyone else. She was relived, she was ready to go home and start a new chapter in her life.

Paloma stood in her graduation gown in front of her father, "The ceremony is done now Papa, I want to go home."

"Paloma, do you not want to celebrate with your classmates, go have fun."

"They asked me papa, but I do not wish to, I would rather go to dinner with you, lets go have a big juicy hamburger and a bunch of fries."

Mr. Alvarez chuckled as his daughter pretended to eat a hamburger made of air, "Ok, anything for my Palomita, lets go."

Once they were in the car sitting Paloma turned to her father, "I was thinking papa, now that I have my degree, when can I start working in the company."

"Why don't you relax and take some time off, no reason for you to rush, mija."

"I will be bored at home papa."

"You can go out, have fun, go shopping, to the theater, go spend money, this is why I work, for you Palomita, so that you can have everything I couldn't give you when you were younger.."

Paloma make a yuck face and stuck out her tongue, "I know that papa and I appreciate it, but ay papa, you know I don't like to go shopping, I will go out and have fun, I can do that and work at the same time, and I will meet people to go out with if I am working."

Her father sighted, "Ok Paloma, give me some time, I want you to enjoy your youth, don't be in such a hurry to grow up, you have plenty of time for that."

Paloma smiled at her father and leaned on his shoulder, and I will get to spend more time with you papa. Don't you think I look great in a lab coat papa?"

"Of course you do Palomita," he laughed and put the privacy windows down, "Diego, find the best burger place in town and have it brought the the jet, we will have our meal there and make sure to get for yourself and everyone on crew in the jet."

Paloma hadn't seen Diego for two years, she was not mad at him anymore, she just wanted make him suffer a little,"Extra fries papa, and I will not share them with you, so get your own," she said to her father.

"Yes, Mr. Alvarez." Diego pulled out his phone and began his search.

"Please Paloma, I am trying to watch what I eat, I am getting older now."

Paloma threw her hands up in exaggerating, "Papa please, you are only forty five, beside you are more fit than I am."

Her father laughed, "Yes you are right, now that you will be home, we can get on the same exercise routine."

"I don't know papa, I won't be able to keep up with you."

"If Diego can do it, you can to, you will train with us too," her father suggested.

Paloma looked at Diego, "I will think about it papa."

After eating her hamburger Paloma, slept the rest of the flight.

Once they landed her father was on the phone the entire time, he paused for a second, "I need to go take care of this, Palomita, I will see you at dinner."

"Don't be late papa," she said and gave him a hug and waved goodbye to him.

"Diego, make sure my daughter isn't stuck at home, take her out, make sure she has a good time," Arturo Alvarez, turned around, smiling to himself as he walked away, he could sense that there something going on between them but he had not confirmed anything yet. He did not like to be nosey in his daughters life, she was allowed to make her own decisions.

Diego, scratched his head, "But I-."

Paloma looked back at Diego with her arms crossed, "How do I always get stuck with you? Well, lets go shopping then."

"You told your father earlier that you didn't like to do that."

"That was before I knew I was stuck with you."

Diego rolled his eyes, "As you wish princess," Diego held the door for her.

Paloma turned her nose up in the air and got in the car.

Paloma, walked down the sidewalk and stopped in front of the shoe store, "I need a few new pairs of shoes."

Paloma turned to Diego and smiled, he had his hands full from all the other stores they had stopped in, she made Diego sit down and she modeled every shoe she saw, taking her time.

"What do you think Diego?" She said coming closer to him.

"Those look great too, it really perks your ass," Diego said bored.

Paloma smiled, "you really think so," she turned to look in the mirror, but her heal snagged on the carpet, she fell into Diego's arm.

He tried to lift herself up but Diego held on to her, "Is this my punishment, you avoided me for the past two years, stop playing games with me Paloma."

"I'm not playing games, this is who I am," Paloma said.

Diego grabbed her chin, and leaned forward, his face was so close she could feel his hot breath on her, "No its not, I know who you are, you put this act to push me away."

Paloma opened her mouth to deny it, but Diego closed the distance between them and took her mouth in his, tasting her with his tongue, she made no protest as she melted into his arms.
