"Get up y/n."
It had been a couple of days since the interview...
"Uuuuuggghhhhhh..." you groaned.
Something hit you in the back, and you rolled over to find the bag that was just thrown onto your bed.
"What's this?" you asked, opening it up.
"Makeup. Cover up. You're going out with your dad today" Olivia explained.
"Why?" you wondered.
"Because I'm bored of babysitting you."
"I think it's called parenting."
"Whatever. Get ready."
You waited until she left, then got out of bed.
You went to sit on a chair in front of your mirror, and emptied the bag of makeup on the table in front of you.
You began to apply it, covering the faint black eye you had earned last night.
———
"Y/n, sweetie, lets go!" John called up the stairs.
"Coming" you responded.
You grabbed your bag from under your bed and ran out your room to go downstairs.
"You don't need a bag" John said.
"But I want to bring a bag" you argued.
"What's in it?"
"Nothing."
"Y/n..."
"Nothing is in it!"
"Then why are you bringing it?"
"Because I want to. What's the big deal?" you complained, unzipping the bag to show him that it was in fact, pretty much empty except for your phone, a charger, and a jumper.
John was early getting very easily agitated with you, but he pushed it aside.
"Fine. We're already late, let's go" he ordered.
He held your hand and pulled you out to the car, telling you to get in the backseat.
"Where are we going?" you asked as he started driving.
"I have some business I need to deal with."
"And what do you expect me to do?"
"Wait in the car."
"But that's so boring."
"I don't think coming with me is going to be much fun either."
On the way to where you were going, John picked up his best friend Lemar.
"Hey y/n" Lemar smiled as he got in the passenger seat.
"Hi" you smiled back politely.
John and Lemar started talking quietly, so you couldn't make out what they were saying.
The journey was quiet a few hours long, and John refused to make any stoped.
Finally, John pulled over the car outside a large ish building.
"Y/n" he looked in the rear view mirror. "Are you coming?"
"Can I?"
"If you're good, and quiet."
"Mhm."
John got out the car and opened the door for you.
You noticed you were at a police station, but you had no idea where.
"Why are we at a police station?" you wondered. "It's to do with your 'business', I presume?"
John ignored you, pushing open the door and grinning widely at the people inside.
You rolled your eyes and followed him, head held low to avoid eye contact and having to make conversation with anyone.
"Christina!" John called. "It's great to see you again."
He stopped to take a photo with someone, then walked over.
You looked up at who he was going to talk to, and you froze.
"You've got to be kidding me-" Sam started, then he paused when he noticed you over John's shoulder.
"Y/n?" he couldn't help grinning widely.
"Uncle Sam!" you cried loudly, and you ran straight towards him.
You embraced in a hug, and Sam held you against his chest, stroking his hand through your hair.
"Hey trouble" he chuckled softly. "I missed you."
"I missed you too" you mumbled into his shirt.
You stayed in his arms, not wanting him to let go, as he continued talking to John over the top of your head.
"What are you doing here?" Sam asked.
"I heard you were working with Bucky, so I thought I'd step in" John informed.
You pushed yourself back from Sam, and he looked down at you happily.
"Bucky? Is he here?"
Conveniently timed, a door buzzed, and two police officers walked in. And Bucky was behind them.
His face was settled with an intense glare. That was until he saw you. He stopped walking, and you made eye contact across the room.
You didn't hesitate for longer than a second.
You sprinted across the room, running until you were in his arms.
Before you could even think of pulling back, he hugged you tighter, lifting you off your feet.
You held onto him like your life depended on it.
Your legs sat around his waist as your arms wrapped around his neck.
He quickly made peace with the fact you weren't letting go, but he was absolutely fine with that.
His smile suddenly disappeared when he saw John Walker standing next to Sam, and he walked over (carrying you).
"Y/n, get off Bucky" John ordered.
You shook your head slightly and held on tighter.
"Bucky, can you put her down please" John sighed.
Bucky held up both his hands, showing he was not holding you in anyway, smirking as he did so. You giggled quietly into his chest.
"Y/n I'm not going to ask you again" John's tone grew increasingly serious.
You frowned and jumped down, but Bucky grabbed your hand before you could go anywhere.
"We have unfinished business Bucky. You too Wilson. I'll see you both outside" John said, grabbing your other hand and forcefully pulling you away from Bucky. You stopped yourself from yelling at John to fuck off, but you shook your hand free from his grasp and stormed out on your own.
John caught up with you, and guided you towards where Lemar was waiting by a cop car.
"What took you so long?" Lemar wondered. "Where are they?"
"They're a having a condition of his release session or whatever. They'll be out in a minute" John informed him, then turned to you. "I forgot you knew those guys."
"Mhm" you hummed, not paying much attention as you looked down at your phone.
John watched you playing games until you noticed, and put your phone away.
"Be right back" you said.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"Back inside."
"Why?"
"It's... cold."
"No it's not... y/n what are you doing?"
"I just wanna go speak to the others in private for a little bit. Is that a problem?"
"What do you need to talk to them about?"
"I haven't seen them in six months! Please can I just have a minute!"
"Fine" John hesitantly agreed. "Be quick."
"Thank you" you sighed, and ran off back into the police station.
Once inside, you walked straight past the interrogation room that the guys were in.
You returned to it about five minutes later, just as Bucky was walking out.
"Sup Bucket" you called as he didn't notice you at first.
He looked over his shoulder and smiled back at you, then waited for you to run up to him. Then he put his arm around you and you started walking.
"How have you been princess?" he smiled.
"Fine" you shrugged.
Bucky stopped walking and stood in front of you, placing his hands on your shoulders.
"Y/n, I haven't seen you in six months, I'm going to need a lot more than fine... I am so sorry about everything. I should've listened to you and tried to help you and-" he brushed some hair out of your face and tucked it behind your ear, then noticed a faint purple under your eye. "What happened to your eye?"
"Nothing- I'm just tired."
"Really?"
"Yeah... we should probably go out to Sam and John."
"Fine but this conversation isn't over hun."
"Of course Buck."
You held his hand and left the police station, running into Sam by the front door.
John was still waiting by the car, and sounded the siren when he saw you.
"Good to see you again" John waved. "Y/n, get in the car while I talk to the guys."
"No."
"No?"
"I- why can't I stand here?"
"You don't- okay fine" John groaned and looked at the guys. "Look if we divide ourselves, we don't stand a chance, you guys know that."
"So what do you got?" Sam asked.
You listened as they discussed the details of their mission.
Bucky was hugging you from behind, his chin resting on the top of your head. You were holding his vibranium arm across your chest with both your own arms, finding comfort in the cool feel of it.
"We're free agents" Sam said after a while. "We're more flexible. So it wouldn't make sense for us to work with you."
Sam went to walk away, but stopped when Bucky didn't move.
Bucky couldn't decide what to do, because he didn't want to leave you again. You turned around to face him and Sam.
"You've gotta go, right?" you questioned.
"I'm sorry sweetie" Sam apologised.
"I'm coming back to find you as soon as we finish this mission" Bucky promised.
"So am I. And we're going to take you out for a day for ice cream like we used to, and we could see a movie if you'd like, and we can go see any of the other guys" Sam suggested.
"You are not taking my daughter anywhere" John stepped forward and placed a hand on your shoulder. "And if you are not going to work with me, I highly recommend that you stay the hell out of my way."
Bucky glared at John, then looked at you and smiled briefly.
He gave you a quick kiss on the forehead and whispered in your ear "see you later princess".
"Bye sweetie" Sam nodded, then he and Bucky left.
"Y/n get in the car" John ordered, opening the door for you.
"Where are we going now?" you enquired.
"I'm going to keep looking, and you're going to sit quietly and not cause trouble. Now get in the car."
"Why can't I just go home?"
"You want to go home?"
"Yeah. I don't really want to follow you round on this mission."
"Fine. I'll take you home."
"No that's fine. I can get there myself. Wherever you're going probably isn't the same direction."
You saw that John was still reluctant to let you go.
"I'll... I promise I'll go straight home and I will... call you as soon as I get back" you agreed.
"Okay. Call your mother too so she knows your coming."
"She's n- ... okay I will" you decided not to argue in case he wouldn't let you leave on your own. "Bye..."
You swung your bag over your back and walked off without another word. It was heavier than it was before you had arrived. Hopefully, no one would notice what you had taken.
John was travelling in one of the cop cars, so you got in the one that you had come in.
Instead of driving in the direction of home, you drove to the airport.
You had something you needed to do.
