Hi! This is my first book. I'm actually gonna try and finish this one, but I'm a really inconsistent writer... I'm sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I was very high while writing it lol. Anyways, please enjoy and feel free to comment on how I can improve my writing!!

"Ah Elizabeth. It's lovely to see you again dear." The Queen, who often treated me like her daughter, said with a gentle smile. "Come on, we wouldn't want to keep the boys waiting!"
I let myself smile a little at her impatience. She always believed me and Giovani would end up together. I wouldn't be surprised if she was the one that arranged this whole thing just so I would spend more time with him.
"My love, come sit." The King said standing from his seat at the dinner table to pull out a chair beside his. The queen giggled under her breathe at his kind action before going to take her seat.
I admire their relationship together. If I were to have any wish it would be that one day I could achieve a love as undying as theirs. Sometimes I wonder if they were destined to rule together for they are the only couple that wouldn't break under the pressure.
"Izzy's here?" Giovani asked as he noticed me. "Wow. You sound so happy to see me." I rolled my eyes a little, letting a airy chuckle escape my lips.
He looked down at his plate and smiled a bit. "We have much to talk about!" The King suddenly said, attracting everyone's attention.
"Yes Father, you told me you have something important to tell me. Which is why, even though I love surprise visits from Izzy, I'm confused as to why she's here."
"Wait you haven't told him yet?" I said, raising my eyebrow. I thought for sure this would've been completely planned out already, but they haven't even told him yet?
"Told me what?" Giovani asked, suddenly turning to me. I shrugged, not sure if I should be the one to tell him about this. I'm pretty sure that's not my job.
The King let out a soft sigh, and the Queen put her hand on top of his to comfort him. "Elizabeth, why don't you sit down we have to talk." He said quietly, looking at me with gentle eyes. He was not ready to tell his son. But we can not put it off any longer, we haven't but only a week to prepare. I know I am not to question the King but giving me such little time to work with him could put Gio at great risk.
"Father, what is going on?" Giovani asked his Father, as he pulled out the chair beside him for me to sit. I silently thanked him by tapping his shoulder. A habit we picked up from repeating the action so many times while growing up together.
"We are sending you and Elizabeth off on a trip." The Queen said softly, looking in between me and her son with a loving gaze. "What do you mean a trip?" Giovani looked at me with a curious glance. I wonder what he's thinking.
"Elizabeth is going to guide you through the Callfound Forest to Aestia. She is to keep you safe as you attend the Yearly Formal. Then she is to get you safely home before the end of the month." The King said, directing his words towards his son but while staring at me with a strict look.
I wouldn't say the King hates me. No, he is just as gentle and caring as the Queen is. But he is fully against his wife when she says me and Gio will fall in love.
There was a small silence in the air as Giovani took in the King's words. "I'm sorry- what? I have so many questions. Isn't the Yearly Formal a mating ball? The Callfound Path is supposedly super dangerous, is that true? Is it only me and Izzy, or is there backup? Why have I not been told about this before now? When do we leave?" He rambled on, the King feeling to guilty about not telling him sooner to reply.
"Yes Gio, the Yearly Formal is a mating ball. Your Father wants you to look for a bride. Yes, the Callfound Path is very dangerous. But I have been trained to handle those situations. It will only be us, and we are leaving in a week." I answer his questions to my best ability, hoping we could keep this conversation between us as to not upset the King any further. He was already guilty enough.
Giovani turned to me looking at me in my eyes. He leaned a bit closer, lowering his voice to a whisper. "How could you not tell me about this, Elizabeth?" His voice was small, and he looked like he was about to cry.
Hearing him call me by my full name hurt. But I couldn't bring myself to react. "Can we please take this somewhere else, Giovani?" I whisper, looking at his mother and father, to see them quietly talking about the trip.
"May we be excused?" Gio said standing up, taking my hand to help me out of my seat. The Queen nodded, still listening to her husband tell her about the preparations for our trip.
Giovani didn't let go of my hand when I was standing, instead he basically pulled me up to his room.
"Here. I know you don't like to sit in your uniform." He said handing me one of his t-shirts, as he started to change out of his suit. I thanked him and went to the bathroom to change out of my uncomfortable uniform.
When I stepped out of the bathroom I saw Giovani laying on his bed, on his phone, in grey sweatpants and a white t-shirt that hugged his upper half. I let my eyes linger a little longer than I should have before pulling away my gaze and clearing my throat.
He looked up from his phone. His eyes moving up and down my figure, taking in the image of me in his shirt. I felt my face flush a bit. "Come here." He said tapping the bed beside him. I hesitantly moved to sit awkwardly on the edge of the bed.
He let out an airy chuckle at my awkwardness, before grabbing my waist and pulling me to him. I feel myself tense up, but after a second I let myself melt into his side. My head laid on his chest, and his arms wrapped around my waist, the phone no longer in sight.
I let myself relax in his tight embrace, its been a while since me and Giovani have been able to hang out one on one. I miss when we use to lay on the couch in the library and read books to each other. I miss all our picnics, and adventures.
His hand started rubbing up and down my back, pulling me into reality. There was a comfortable silence before I decided to speak up. "I'm sorry for not telling you about the trip Vani."

Fantasy"So it's just us out here?" Giovani asked, the silence getting to be too much for him. "Us and the spirits of the people who died on this path." I said in a monotone voice. "Iz you better be joking." He said his eyes going wide. "Hehe. Just kidding...
