[The inherited destiny]

"I want you to help us, Manaka Kengo. Lend us your strength."
Shizuma told the young man.

"....huh..?"
Kengo went silent from his words for a moment then looked even more confused.

"Lend you my strength...? What are you talking about?"

"There's an incoming threat that would endanger the world as it is, Kengo."

"Incoming threat... Don't you mean the Honkai that keeps on threatening the world in general?"

"No. The threat I'm referring to is not just the Honkai."
Chairman Shizuma cleared up.

"Not just the Honkai...?"

"Yes. I believe you encountered one when you saw that Giant Statue."

Kengo's brows furrowed as he tried to recall, but his eyes widened soon as he realized what the chairman meant. However, he found it rather suspicious that he knew a lot more. It made him wary of the chairman. He knows more than what he's letting on and he found it rather distrustful of the old man.

"I see your eyes are filled with suspicion, I understand. I'll tell you everything. Come with me."
Shizuma offered, now seeing a limousine he called arriving not too long ago.

"Wait."
Kengo stood up, barely able to keep himself up from the lingering exhaustion.

"I have to find my mom first."
Kengo brought up. Even though he was physically taxed, he won't let his exhaustion stop him from looking for his mother.

"Do not fret, young Kengo."
Shizuma said, confusing the young man.

"She's in the evacuation center, near my mansion."

Kengo felt relief upon hearing the news. He now decided to agree and come with him as he was now assured his mom was safe.

-

It was a lengthy drive from the city towards the evacuation center, having encountered several checkpoints due to what happened earlier. Fortunately, they were let through because of the Chairman himself. Kengo himself was suspicious of the man but hid it for now seeing that there were chances for his mom to be safe.

Soon, they reached their destination, which was the evacuation center. Near the center was a large white mansion and surrounding them were barricades meant to defend the place from Honkai Beasts. Soldiers were also around to provide added security. Kengo and Shizuka soon exited the limo and they saw several people.

Civilians and Volunteers, with the latter working to provide the necessity for the people who lost their homes. More vehicles arrived later, to which showed more civilians rescued from the incident that occurred a while ago. Kengo witnessed it all and went silent.

"These are..."

"Yes. As you might have guessed, since a city-scale incident has occurred, most people would've lost their homes already. Most evacuation centers would've been filled and reached maximum capacity, thus forcing the new evacuees to leave and be on their own."
Shizuma explained, which was a hard thing for Kengo to swallow.

"But recently, it won't be the case anymore as I've established additional shelters, which would be enough to house the people. Or so I would hope."
The young man felt even more relief by the elder's words.

He would soon spot the child he saved earlier, now reunited with his mother. The kid managed to spot the young man and waved his hand at him and the chairman while muttering "Thank you" at them.

"I'm glad he's with his mother again.."
Kengo muttered and felt a bit worried for his own mother as well.

"The father is still missing, but my team is on its way looking for him and the rest of the people as well. I hope they're safe too.."
Shizuma remarked.
