"What happened Kakashi? Are you saying we should keep our eyes closed still?". A worried Kurenai asked with her eyes clenched close along with her partner while Kakashi fell on his knees gasping for air, his mind still swirling in the abyss of the Tsukuyomi Itachi put him under.
"N-Not...yet...". Kakashi rasped out, barely audible in his state.
Kisame saw this as an opportunity to completely eradicate the team of jonins who seems to be defenseless in front of the Uchiha's visual paralysis.
He lifted his sword with a war clamor and ran towards the helpless joins, especially now that the copy ninja was down on his knee, barely mentally and physically stable enough to save his comrades. Itachi stood there watching silently knowing that Kisame won't land a hard blow enough to cause causality, nor does he want to see leaf ninjas dead because of him.
But to their utter surprise, an immensely strong shield intervened the blow Kisame was about to land. The sword clashed with a transparent purple-colored bone, but not even a scratch marked the hands of the skeleton. The aura it emitted was almost unbearable that even Kisame was astonished for he has never seen such a shield.
"What in the world is this, Itachi?". Itachi was almost as baffled as Kisame but he maintained his hostile composure in front of the jonins who looked as stunned as him.
"Kakashi! what is this?". Asuma asked, finally able to open his eyes but he didn't look in the direction of the Uchiha.
"I-I don't know..." Kakashi coughed, hunching over as Asuma leaned forward to help him.
"Susano". Itachi announced calmly but the turmoil in his voice was evident as he quickly got into the stance to welcome an intruder.
He knew Sasuke was still far from achieving this state of his Sharingan and the only person to be able to wield this power was...someone he still could not believe was alive, someone he has always regretfully remembered in his thoughts.
"Fireball Jutsu!". Izumi shouted, filling her lungs with as much air as she can, and shot in the direction of Kisame to create some distance between them and her comrades.
Her body landed perfectly on the calm water ahead of Kakashi, her red eyes shining brightly from behind her curtain bangs, the wisps of air blowing her long hair in the air as she fiercely stood in front of her team to defend them from the person she knows doesn't want this fight.
The kunoichi's eyes connected with the tortured and pained ones, a gasp leaving her mouth as unwanted tears filled her vermilion gaze, 'Itachi' she mouthed ever so lightly and his sharingan didn't leave a single letter of his name to read from her lips.
He looked so pained for a moment, for Izumi to look before he hid his emotion the way he has been doing ever since he lost his team members at the hands of the masked man he later sought for help.
Izumi understood his predicament and mouth as such so for which Itachi was utterly indebted even though he couldn't show, but he was.
"I see! looks like the Third-sama had many secrets to worry about even after death". Kisame raised a brow at his partner's words, "Who would have guessed that another Uchiha was alive, huh Itachi?".
"Looks like that". Itachi agreed with Kisame's word and couldn't help but question everything he did that night. He was sure that he had killed her but seeing her alive and healthy just proved him wrong.
What he could not understand was why would the Third Hokage lie to him about her if she was alive but he choose to put his faith in him thinking he must have some solid reason to do so.
From Itachi's eyes, Izumi was still the same person who used to glance at him every so often and offer him Dango sweets from her shop. It was from the day she first offered him that sweet that he has become such a fan of it.
Kisame looked at Itachi waiting for him to signal for the next move as he knows fighting a person with the sharingan, especially mangekyō sharingan can be very fatal and he's not that stupid to dive in without consulting his partner who is an Uchiha himself.
"There's no point in fighting, fall back". Itachi said calmly but only Izumi saw his true meaning behind it, he didn't want to hurt her or anyone, anymore.
Just as the two men team of the rogue ninjas was going to fall back, Izumi coughed up blood and fell to her knees. Her susano weakening with her vulnerable body which was still going through the aftereffects of Orochimaru's poisoning.
When she used her susano, the painkillers and antibiotics which were in her bloodstream were put under pressure for the flow of chakra and the poison was relished again.
"Izumi-chan!". Kurenai gasped, going to her side, "Please stop! Your body hasn't recovered yet! You shan't use such a powerful Jutsu".
A horrified feeling settled inside Itachi's heart as he watched her cough out blood, the glimpses of his present sickness clouding his mind. As much as he was shocked to see her alive, the other part was exceptionally happy too, as Sasuke wouldn't have been alone and the guilt of killing his lover won't sting so much now.
But now all of it seems to crash as he watched her weakened state and he knew Kisame will attack taking advantage of it, nor can he stop or
Hoshigaki will think he still thinks of this village as his own.
There are only two options that are, he puts the opposing team under a genjutsu and leaves or let Kisame charge, either way, one of them has to do it.
A vicious turmoil commenced in the Uchiha's mind who couldn't decide what was the most reasonable choice, a part of him knew that putting them under the genjutsu was the best option rather than getting hit by Kisame's samehada. That's it then!
Just as Itachi mentally prepared himself to put everyone in a genjutsu, water splashed everywhere and Kisame staggered back when he felt a powerful kick on his samehada.
"Nani!?".
"Leaf Hurricane!". Guy exclaimed, curving his right hand in front of him, taking his taijutsu stance as he challenged them after landing.
The ravenette was grateful for Might Guy's entrance, now neither he nor Kisame would have to charge. On cue, both the rogues took their leaves but not before looking back at the blood coughing lover with worried eyes.
Izumi-chan, stay safe.
