Every protagonist needs an antagonist. I'm usually my own, lucky me! But there was Tiara. I would run against her for multiple positions, some I'd win some I'd lose. She would turn the whole Sorority against me at one point. So let's get to know her!
Tiara was smart, mature beyond her age. When I met her, she was about to become the president of the Sorority. She had made her way to the top, next to her was Alex.
Alex was beautiful and only 18 at the time. Big brown eyes, long lushes' dark hair with light ends. She was a model, like really, she modeled.
Tiara promoted Alex to be her Vice President, even though Alex had only pledged in the fall. Alex hadn't even been in the Sorority for a year. But Tiara worked her magic and got her the position. Tiara knew Alex made her look good.
I was no one, a Spring pledge, bottom of the totem pole. I'm a climber though and by the end of the summer I would be their new best friend. We would be a threesome making decisions for the Sorority.
The school year ended, and Mary had to go back home out of state. Without class to go to I spent more time at home with Max, it was awkward. We would spend a whole day bingeing a tv show without really talking.
Every other week the Sorority would have a meeting during the summer. Hideaway was coming, a yearly summer trip where all the girls spent a weekend together.
Also Rush needed to be planned. Rush! Feel free to take a drink every time I say it. All year long as a Sorority you should be recruiting. A Sorority is like a cult, you are always trying to get new members.
You're taught how to answer questions about the Sorority. You're taught how to sell the brand Omega Nu. You learn slogans and songs. You're given clothing with your Sorority letters on it, and you wear it with pride.
I to this day will not drink alcohol while wearing my letters, it's so deeply ingrained in me to respect those letters. It's brain washing, but my brain was dirty. All I knew was sadness and abuse. Omega Nu made me feel strong and beautiful.
Omega Nu taught me I could climb to the top. Step one get close to what you want. And remember, you only get out of Greek life what you put in.At the beginning of summer there was a group of about five girls who ran the Sorority. The new and old President was apart of it, also a former Greek Council President.
I wanted to hang out with those girls. So I forced my way in. Forced is a strong word, I ask to hangout and they said yes. I was their newest sister. I'm sure they felt obliged. Alex later said she didn't like me at first. She said one day I was just there and didn't leave. She was right though.
Getting close to Tiara and Alex wasn't hard. I called Alison up and asked to hang out. I told her I wanted to do a photoshoot. I went to her house and she posed in a light blue sundress and hat.
I had become the historian of Omega and suggested personal photo shoot of each girl for the Rush slide show.
I remember the slide show at my formal night, it made me want to be in the Sorority. I wanted this year's slide show to be amazing. I wanted each girl to have a picture with their personality. I wanted to market them as perfect Sorority girls, I wanted people to watch the slide show and want to be these girls.
It was time for the annual Hideaway. A weekend all the girls go on a trip together.
I must of made a good impression on Tiara, because I was assigned the same room as her in Alex. It was a weekend of games, activities, and a little drinking, if you where apart of the in crowd.
This weekend made me and Alex's relationship. I remember calling Alex after Hideaway wanting to hangout. She answered the phone and seem very disinterested in the whole conversation. I finally said, I thought we really bonded over Hideaway, I guess not. She apologized saying she was at work and hungover. That night I went to her house and brought Taco Bell. We hung out the whole night. After I would go to her house all the time.
Alex had a vision for a great Rush week. A big one; events, dress codes, themes. She even came up with a night where all the Greek members put on a show, we would call it "Let us Entertain you!"
She had been reading books and doing research and wanted us to be more like national Sororities. It sounded awesome to me.
Soon Tiara, Alex, and myself were together every day. I was a part of the inner circle.
School started and it was time for my first active Rush!Thank you for reading, don't forget to vote and leave a comment!
