The carriage ride started out slow. The scenery eventually changing from the town square to a blanket of trees. Every once and a while they'd be sent lopsided when their carriage hit a dip in the road.
Mr. Reyes had fallen asleep about half an hour ago and nothing seemed to wake that man.
Ausitn spent the time mauling over how he was going to get Rafa alone at the Opera house. He went over every possible way they could easily slip away until his head hurt from overthinking.
This was if they even arrived before the show started. What if they were late and had to go straight to their seats? That wouldn't be ideal as Austin had a tightness in his trousers every time he even glanced at Rafa.
It wasn't long until they were surrounded by country side with the exception of a small farm here and there. But even those had hundreds of yards.
Austin stretched his legs forward in attempt to relieve the uncomfortable cramping. Long legs and carriages were not a good combination. And all stretching them did was put both him and Rafa in an even more uncomfortable position. Austin's knee had accidentally lodged right between Rafa's legs, pressing up against him.
Austin immediately withdrew it, muttering a "sorry".
Rafa continued to stare at him with a gaze that made Austin shift awkwardly in his seat. The man looked over at his father, as if to check if he was still asleep. Then leaned over and took Austin's hand in his own, placing a tender kiss on his knuckles, lips trailing up to the sensitive skin of his wrist. His own limbs shifting so their legs were pressed up against eachother.
They stayed there a moment. It was an inviting warmth, sitting so close to Rafa, faces only inches apart. Eyes full of wanting and adoration, something Austin didn't realize could happen at the same time.
However, this was getting risky. Their legs pushed together, hands interloped, faces so close he could feel Rafa's hot breath on his lips. But Austin couldn't find it in himself to pull back. There was something incredibly powerful pushing him forward.
"You enthralled me, Austin." Rafa whispered, their lips brushing as he spoke.
Oh. "I do?" Austin gluped. Suddenly feeling anything but confident.
Rafa nodded, fingers tracing his jaw. "You're so incredibly handsome. Especially in this suit."
This could not happen with Mr. Reyes sitting right there. He was asleep, sure, but the old man could wake at any moment.
But the heat emanating from Rafa's lips that brushed against his was causing his mind to go blank. Everything in his body suddenly forgot where they were, ready to throw caution to the wind just for a moment longer of whatever this was.
"I want to take it off of you." Rafa said while staring him directly in the eye.
"So do I." Austin muttered.
And just like that, it was cut short by Mr. Reyes stirring in his sleep, not waking but it was enough for Austin to jerk back into his seat. Rafa sat back as well, a slightly shaky hand running through his curls.
Austin sighed when he didn't wake, covering the bulge in his top hat. Heavens, did he ache for him. This carriage needed to move much faster.
This wasn't the right time. While what just happened was very encouraging about Rafa's feelings towards Austin, it needed to be the right time. They needed the privacy to speak freely with no formality or politeness getting in the way.
But as he glanced over to Rafa, he saw a wide grin on the man's face. And the pure absurdity of the situation hit him. Whispering sweet alluring words while Rafa's father slept a foot away from them. Austin stifled a laugh. Rafa covered his mouth with his hand, shoulders trembling as muffled laughter came from his mouth. Apparently they'd been so desperate for intimacy this is what they've resorted to.
