belonging

Longing to belong
To someone or something
Looking all around for anything
To rid me off of this loneliness
not quite sure what I'm even looking for
Been feeling a type of sadness
One that needs to be wiped off this heart of mine before it causes damage
Been to many sources expecting answers
All efforts proven vain every single time
Not that I've never experienced the sense of belonging
Just that I ran from the ever flowing source of peace and joy, as unbelievable as that sounds
I thought I could handle everything on my own,
But the truth is I belonged to God from the very beginning
He was and still is my home and my safe place
I just forgot that for a while after believing lies that crept in my head.
Lies that made me doubt where I belonged...
