A young boy is lying in an alley, only looking around 12 years of age. He had dark black hair with pitch black eyes. His name was Kai. He's been an orphan for a while now. Around 3 years ago, they were murdered in front of him. He didn't even know by what by, all he could remember were the pitch-black feathers left behind after the murder of his parents, then the searing pain in his eyes.

He's been all alone ever since, though it looks like he may rejoin them soon. He'd been attacked by some thugs; they had stabbed him in the side and beaten him badly. Took all he had on him, which wasn't much. Now he was bleeding out in a dark alley in the middle of some city, he didn't even know where he was. Now he was at the end of his rope.

"Mom... Dad... Looks like I'll be seeing you soon..." he spoke

His vision faded to black, and he felt as if he was falling; until the feeling was gone. He could only see black around him, until a symbol appeared in front of him. It was a circle, with an inverted triangle filling the middle. Then out of it came a triple-bladed scythe and what looked like a retracting spear. There was also a pendent with the same symbol.

He stared in awe, then heard a deep voice, "Kai, I have summoned your soul to my realm." Kai trembled at the sound of the voice, " W-Who are you?", he asked terrified. "I am Jashin, god of Evil and Wickedness, and I am going to give you a second chance in life." Kai stood appalled by the declaration, "That's great, but what's the catch? Nothing this good is given out for free."

It was at this point Jashin laughs at this, "Perceptive at such a young age... Yes, you will do nicely. The catch is that you will be immortal and serve as my servant in the world." Kai made a concerned expression at this and Jashin spoke again. "What I require is that you make living sacrifices in my name." It was at this point Kai choked, 'Living... Sacrifices?' "You will do this, and I will send you back to the land of the living. Then you can live your life as well. What you do in your free time is your business."

Kai soaks in all this information, "So I can go back and live my life as long as I give living sacrifices to you?" There was a grunt from which he assumed was a yes. "And hunt down the thing that killed my parents?" Kai asked. "Yes, but that will be on your own time." Kai thought and nodded, "I will do it, Lord Jashin." Jashin boomed with laughter, "Splendid, all you will need is the items in front of you. Once you put the pendent on, it will give you the knowledge you need. Lastly, don't make me regret this."

With that, Kai felt he was being lifted up, and he awoke with a start. He was still in the alley from the previous night, but now it was early morning. He looked around the alley, then at himself and noticed something different. He was leaner than before with muscle to match his physique. With that, his wounds from before and after he became an orphan had disappeared. Along with that, there were many things he recognized from his dream. The scythe, retractable spear , and the pendent which was around his neck, along with new clothes.

When he saw the pendent on him, he had a sudden pain surge through his head. He saw past followers of Jashin and how they served their Lord. What their techniques were, and how to use them.

Then it was gone as soon as it began. He now knew what he had to do and then it was quiet again. That was until Kai had started laughing maniacally, "Yes, I feel it. The power bestowed upon me by Lord Jashin!" He continued to laugh for another moment and stopped at the sound of rapid footsteps going towards him. His senses were sharpened. Around the corner at the end of the alley came some familiar faces. It was the three thugs that had stabbed and beaten him... the ones that killed him.

Kai grabbed the spear and shoved it in the pocket of his new coat pocket and grabbed his new scythe from the ground, in time to test his new abilities. The thugs saw him and approached him, "Little shit! How are you still alive?! That stab wound shoulda killed yo-", he didn't get a chance to finish as he was decapitated then and there. The other two thugs stared in horror, then one got brave and charged him with his knife. He met the same fate as his comrade. The last thug was scared shitless, he couldn't move in fear of what would happen.

Kai then decided to test something. He started dragging his feet in the pools of blood. He did this until he formed it... The ritual circle, the mark of Jashin. He then pulled off his coat and took out the spear before resting it nearby. He then stabbed the thug in the leg as he tried to crawl away. When this happened, the thug spun around and screamed and groaned in pain. Kai ignored him and walked back into the circle and licked the blood from the spear and his skin changed.

He turned pure black with a skeleton-looking pattern, then lifted his spear to his heart. The thug looked in horror, "W-What a-are you?" he asked in fear. Kai smiled sadistically, "Your DEATH. The spear was then pierced right through Kai's heart. The thug coughed blood out of his mouth then went limp. He died...

Kai stared, then it finally registered. He had killed not one but three people. He fell to his knees as he realized what he now had to do. He now has to walk the mortal plain and murder in the name of his God. But he felt no guilt. He actually felt the opposite, he felt good. Really good.

Kai decided now was maybe a good time to leave. He went to get his coat and grabbed it. As he did, he felt something in his pocket. He pulled out the object and found it was a note with an address on it. Along with it was the seal of Lord Jashin. He packed what he had and immediately went to the address and found a house that looked pretty nice. It took a while to find out as he had to hike to another town to get there. He had been in Tokyo, he learned, and the address was in a town called Kuoh. He decided to go inside and wash up. The home was a standard 2 bed 2 bath home, complete with a kitchen and living room.

He dropped his stuff and went to the shower, then to the bedroom he chose as his. It had its own bathroom. As he lied in bed, he gave a silent prayer to Jashin and soundly fell to sleep.

Present

Kai was now 17 and walking down the sidewalk. It had been 5 years since Lord Jashin had saved him. He had matured nicely and had grown leaner, most likely from his exercises he had undertaken. Can't sacrifice if you can't catch the victim. He stuck with the same clothes he had been given years ago by Jashin, albeit in a larger size as he now stood around 6 feet tall. He wore his black coat with white fur in the hood, white tank top underneath, plain jeans, and black sandals that went to mid calf.

In the past years, he has learned to wield a variety of weapons. It doesn't pay to be a one-trick pony, though he does favor his scythe. He kept his arsenal in a storage scroll.

Kai had recently decided to apply for a school. Not because it would really help him, but he still wanted to live his life. He hadn't been in school for years, but he still got an education through other means. He approached the gate of the school he applied to, Kuoh Academy. At the gate was a black-haired girl styled in a bob cut. She must be who he had to meet.

He walked up with a friendly smile, "Hello, are you Souna Shitori?" he asked politely. The girl nodded, "Yes, and I can assume you are Kai?" Kai replied with a nod. Souna smiled, "Splendid, we can get you settled in right away. Though we will have to get you a uniform." Kai nodded again and followed Souna into the school as she explained the rules. Turns out, she's the student council president.

She explains that all the students are in class and what Kai's schedule will be for the year. She then explained the rules and the history of how the school only recently turned co-ed. He'd heard about that. After a tour, he was then given his schedule on paper and uniform, then was allowed to leave.

When he stepped outside, he heard a bell. It must've been the end of the period. As he reached the gate, he noticed a crimson-haired girl staring at him from a window of the school. He felt chills, something was up with this school. He had just felt something he hadn't felt since his parent's death...

He felt his eyes burn and turned around as they changed and glowed crimson. He would get to the bottom of this, no matter who he had to sacrifice.
