Riley's P.O.V
Turns out, if you flick a pen hard enough, it will hit the wall and break. Just as I'm cleaning up pieces of broken pen from underneath the desk, I hear the door open. I stand up and see a tall boy with golden hair and dressed fully in black, making him look dangerous. The light shines on his lip ring and his blue eyes brilliantly sparkle. Wow...
"Hi, can I help you?" I ask.
"Yeah, I'm looking for a guy called Riley? Will said he would help me with the paperwork. My car broke down." He chuckles.
I get this a lot, with having a unisex name.
"You're looking at her." I smile.
"Oh shit, sorry, I didn't realize." He panics.
"It's okay, don't worry about it. I get it a lot." I laugh.
"Wait, I thought that guy Calum said that 'Riley is one of the best mechanics' here'." He says, using air quotes.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask, suddenly pissed off.
"It's nothing personal, it's just... Well, you're a girl." The guy laughs awkwardly.
"So? Girls can't like cars? Little sexist, isn't it?" I say.
"Okay, you're turning this into a bigger deal than it should be." He scoffs.
"Look, do you want the paperwork or not?" I sigh.
"Fine." He comes to my side of the desk and I hand him some sheets of paper. I watch as he fills in his insurance and jot his name down as Luke Hemmings.
"Done." Luke sighs.
"I help with the car to make it quicker, but I'm a girl, so it's fine." I say bitterly.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I'm sure you're really good at the whole car thing. It's just, all the girls I've met that are into cars aren't... They aren't..."
"They aren't what?" I challenge him.
"They aren't.... You know... Hot." Luke admits.
"Oh." Is all I can say. "Thank you." I smile.
Suddenly, Calum walks in.
"Hey man, all we had to do was replace the battery." Calum tells Luke.
"Thanks. How much?" Luke asks.
"£75." Cal replies.
Luke takes out his wallet and grabs a few notes, hands them to Cal and leaves. I rarely get called hot. I'm not bad looking, it's just that the only people I hang out with are Calum and Dad. As sad as it sounds.
"You okay, Riles?" Calum asks, snapping me out of my train of thought.
"Yeah... Yeah, I'm fine." I reply.
"Did he say something to you?"
"No, he was fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, he was actually-"
"Because if he did, I could catch up with him and I swear to God, I'll-"
"Calum! Just stop with the 'Big Brother' act. I said I'm fine and I am. Just drop it, okay?" I argue.
"Woah, what's your problem?" Cal scoffs.
"Nothing! Nothing, I don't have a problem. It's just I hate it when you treat me like I'm six and like I can't take care of myself!" I yell.
