Chapter 3: Beginning of a New Start

Y/n POV

Currently, I am walking around the street of Tokyo while watching as more people began joining. It was another busy day whereas everybody do their job. Everything was fine, and what I meant by fun is that a normal cycle began. Nothing seems to interrupt it.

What I meant is just normal humans getting eaten by ghouls, and Ghoul investigators killing ghouls. While normal humans are just doing their work.

Ah yes, what was I going to do just now? Right... let's hunt some ghouls.

I walk into an alley where I found several suspicious people. Ah, so suspicious...their mouth are covered with blood and 2 corpses are between them. I wonder why isn't anyone here.

"Good morning." I greeted them, but they doesn't look calm at all. One of them charged at me aggressively. I was just greeting them, is there anything wrong with that?

I took out my quinque and slice him in half. It was a shame that I did not manage to get a sample of their kagune. The other 2 tried to run, but I am not allowed to let them go away just like that.

I took out a pair of guns. I shoot the bullets at them and both of them got hit. Both of them then showed their kagune. One of them is koukaku and the other is rinkaku. Sadly, I already cut their head before they even react.

"I don't even know if I should give them a rank. They aren't even capable of defending themselves from such a simple attack. Alright, time to go."

I am walking towards Anteiku, the regular cafe I'm going to from now on. When I walk in, I could saw a person wearing a red sparkling tuxedo. The worker didn't seem to like him very much.

"Hello?" I asked and they were surprised to see me.

"Oh, hello there. Hm?" The man then comes closer to me and looks me in the eyes.

"I'm Y/n. Pardon me if I interrupt something."

He then smiled and hold my shoulder. "No no. Don't worry. I'm sure you're not interrupting anything. Call me Tsukiyama."

He then went to the door. And before he left, "Ravissant. Goodbye first, Kaneki."

"Sorry for everything that happens just now, sir." A guy apologized.

"No need for apology. I'm just here to get a cup of cappuccino." I said as I sat on one of the chairs.

They then began making a cup of coffee for me while I wait. I look around and everything is pretty much the same as usual.

"Hm... This place is peaceful. It's not like any other cafe I've been to. This one is different." I said as I look more in detail.

My cup of cappuccino arrived and I drink it. It is a good cup of cappuccino, tastes the same as usual. As soon as I finish it, I pay up and leave.

Another day where I will do my job which is killing ghouls mercilessly. Because of that, I somehow gain the title "Merciless" I am kinda popular among ghouls.

This day is pretty calm. Sir Mado and Amon took over so I don't have any job currently. It was nice and all but I feel kinda bored. I hope that I got something to do...

The next day, I was doing the usual stuff. But this time, I went to the 24th ward. Nothing much, just trying to enjoy myself and prevent my boredom from taking over.

When I was walking on the street, I bump into a girl. She's short...and has messy green hair. Not only that, but she also brought books with her.

"Sorry for bumping into you." She apologizes as I look at her.

"No worries. This is just a guess, but are you an author?" I asked her.

She looks surprised for a while when I said that. "Yes, I am. My name is Sen Takatsuki, pleased to meet you. I'm a horror novelist."

"Ah, so you're that person. The one who wrote The Black Goat's Egg." I said.

"Oh! So you read it?" She asked me.

"Yeah... I read it when I'm bored."

"I see... Anyways, do you want to hang it sometime? I'm just asking, it's ok if you said no." She asked me as she look into my eyes. I didn't see anything in it...just...empty.

(I don't have anything to do. Since most of the time, I'll be free from work. Might as well hang out with someone.) "Sure. I mean. I don't have anything to do."

No one POV

(I wonder how useful can he be.) "Great! I'll see you tomorrow at around 10 in my favorite cafe. The location is XXXX." Sen said.

"Cool, I guess..." Y/n said as he look around. He's just curious because something has been bothering him.

She then looks at her watch and realizes what time it is. "I need to go now. Bye!" She said as she went off in a hurry. Y/n looks at her while smiling. He's pretty much happy because he made a friend.

"Now, where was I? Oh right, I still need to give my answer to Sir Arima." Y/n then went off to HQ to meet Arima. Well, it's not a guarantee that he would be there. But, he's just gonna try his luck.

Y/n then meets Arima in front of the entrance of the HQ. Arima smiled when finding Y/n coming.

"So, Y/n... Are you ready to give your answer?" He asked him.

Without hesitation, Y/n answers him "Yeah, sure. I mean what else could I choose?"

Arima giggles for a while before he responds that Y/n answer. "Well then, welcome to Squad 0."

Arima then went away. (I see... Well, I'll be looking forward to working with you.)
