"SO, WHAT DO YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT?" Lucas asked, dusting his hands off as he sat in front of his best friend, a blanket underneath them.
Lola couldn't think of a place for her and Lucas' 'date', so the blonde boy had ultimately decided on the River-court. She didn't complain, but she brought stuff to have a picnic together, even if it was dark outside. So, that's what they currently did, eating strawberries and trying to decide what they wanted to talk about.
She shrugged, watching the boat pass across the water. "How about what you're feeling?" She felt his curious gaze on her and turned to look at him fully. "Like, with Brooke and her date with Chris Keller."
He sighed, "The guy has caused a lot of trouble and she knows that. And I can't be mad at her forever, because she's the one."
"Really? Are you really sure, Luke? I'm not trying to be mean here, but you're not very good at sticking with one person." Lola sat up straighter, legs crossing together.
"Yes, I'm completely sure. I just feel it in my heart." Lucas grabbed his basketball and started bouncing it from where he sat, the ball barely going past his shoulders.
Lola watched him, "As much as I love the both of you, it's not right what she's doing to you. Or what you're doing. Brooke isn't ready to commit yet and she's playing with your feelings. Yes, you were a jerk and cheated on her, but she shouldn't stoop down to your level." She ignored the look he gave her and continued. "And you shouldn't continue this bizarre mission to get her to love you. The two of you need to just admit you still like each other or move the hell on."
"You know, you give me a lot of relationship advice for someone who's never been in one." He grunts as her fist connects with his left shoulder, his hand clutching the spot as he laughed. "Sorry, my bad. And I hate to admit it, but you're right." He suddenly gets up from his spot. "Let's go to her apartment, so I can finally confess."
Lola's eyes widened in shock, getting up as well. "Woah, I didn't mean now!"
"Why not? Now is a good time as any. Plus, why wait, right?" Lucas started towards his car, his best friend following him in fast steps.
"You're insane!" Lola laughed, getting into the passenger side.
It didn't take too long to reach the apartment, Luke pulling up and looking over towards the building. "Well, we're here."
Lola grabbed his hand, bringing his attention towards herself. "I'll be waiting out here, but don't take too long, or I'll come up there myself and drag you away."
He chuckled, his dimples showing. "I wouldn't doubt it. Wish me luck." With that, he got out of the car and walked towards the complex, hands dug inside his pockets, clearly nervous.
Lola turned the radio on and started flipping through the different channels, trying to find a decent song to listen to while she waited. It took her a few minutes, but she finally found one right as Lucas ran back to the car, tears falling from his face, an angry expression on display. "What happened?"
"She slept with Chris Keller." Lucas mumbled, before he started hitting his steering wheel over and over again. "God! I should've known she would do something like this! I'm so stupid!"
As much as Lola was sort of scared of the boy at the moment, she still grabbed ahold of his arms, pulling his hands into her's, rubbing circles across them. "Luke, you're not stupid. You didn't know she would sleep with him and I didn't either. It's not your fault, okay."
He sniffled and looked into her eyes, "Okay. It just hurts, you know? I was just complaining to you about how she was the one and now I look like a complete idiot, because the one wouldn't have done that to me."
Lola's heart broke at the sight of his beautiful blue eyes that were starting to grow red around them. "I know it hurts, but maybe this was a sign. To finally let go and find someone else, someone new and—"
She was cut off by lips crashing onto her's, taking the girl by surprise. Lucas was pouring his emotions deeply into it and Lola knew it wasn't right. Because he's her best friend and he didn't mean to do this. He's just upset.
Lola pulled away from him after two seconds pass and stares into his eyes, completely at a loss for words.
"I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have done that." Lucas mumbled, quickly shaking his head and letting out a small laugh. "I really am dumb."
"No, no. It's okay, you weren't in the right head space and I don't blame you."
She didn't blame him because she secretly enjoyed it, something the black haired girl felt guilty over.
He was her first kiss and she would cherish it forever.
