Chapter 7

Elijah's POV

I couldn't be more proud of Ezekiel for stepping up the role as Don and continuing the business. After the incident, he became cold. He uses all of his energy in helping me search for the ones responsible. Zeke and Evie had a special bond, one between an eldest brother and the youngest sister.

Once I stepped down, I kept looking for them. I never stopped. The day when I can personally kill them for taking mia figlia away from me is the day I can rest peacefully. The satisfaction of someone paying for my family's misery.

When Zeke called the family into his office, my first thought was that they finally had a lead on the Germans whereabouts. Imagine my surprise when I heard what Ethan said.

My only daughter. Alive.

Those stronzi kept her for years. Where is she now? How do I find her?

I see my bella moglie crying. Alessia was the most broken after the incident. Her only daughter is gone. For the first few months, she went on a spree. After years of not assassinating, she killed all the enemies that stopped her from finding her daughter. But later on she realised that her sons needed her. Hence, she stopped and gave her love and attention to her famiglia.

I made the decision to move to England as that is where the Greek Mafia is staying. I know that they too have some unfinished business with the Germans. Hence, an alliance with them could be the best way to find my Evie.

A week went by and now we're staying in a mansion in England. It's secluded enough that we would be safe and aware if there were to be an attack.

Zeke is doing some work in his office while Antonio is at the warehouse trying to set up the hospital department. The triplets are around the house doing what they do and Alex is at school. My wife is helping Emilio with his homework in the kitchen.

Tomorrow night we are having dinner with the Greeks, the Kastellanos. They have accepted our proposal in discussing the possible alliance to defeat the Germans. The current don, Adonis Kastellano has invited us to their house. I heard that he is an exact replica of his father, Milo Kastellano. They are both ruthless to the outside world but when it comes to family, they shower them with love. Just like us.

I was reviewing the papers that had some clues on where my daughter could be when I received a text from the family group. Alex requested us all to be in the living room and he had an announcement. I wonder what it could be.

After 30 minutes, Alex and Nathan came in running through the front door to meet everyone in the living room.

"Evie" Alex said, panting and looked like he was about to burst into tears.

I taught my family to keep their face neutral outside of the house but when it comes to family, you could show all your emotions without any care of judgement.

Everyone sucked in a breath. The boys had their jaws clenched and Alessia put her hand up to her mouth. Afraid of what it could be that Alex is trying to say.

"I saw her. She was there, in school. She's so beautiful, she looks just like mama," Alex whispered and right after that he started sniffling.

The anticipation of what he had to say made the room so quiet that when he whispered, everyone heard it.

"Are you sure figlio," I asked softly because I don't want him to snap and I need to keep everyone from having false hope.

Alex looked at me straight in the eyes and said the thing that made my heart beat faster. "She was wearing the necklace"

Gasps were heard across the room. I remember asking Zeke to give that necklace to her when she turned four. The necklace has our family symbol on it and has been designed by our ancestors. No one has it except for the Romano family. So hearing this, makes it possible that Alex saw her.

After a few minutes of everyone digesting the possibilities, Zeke spoke " We are having dinner with the Greeks tomorrow, we could ask them for more help on where she's staying and if she's been here for a while since they have been in England longer. Meanwhile, Ezra, I want you to hack into the school database. See if you can find any information on her. Hack the cameras and see what she has been up to in school and who her friends are. If she has not been under everyone's radar and has been away from the Germans eye for years, there must be someone who's helping her. Look if she changed her name, maybe that's why she's invisible."

Ezra nodded his head and left the room to start hacking. Ezra has always been the quiet one in the family. He only observes and studies people as he thinks that it will give him more information than words.

"Alex, tomorrow I want you to have an eye on her. Don't approach her yet as we don't want to scare her. Just make sure that it's her and try to figure her out. After lunch, come home straight away, you don't have to stay in school. You will be getting ready for dinner with the Kastellanos." I said to him.

He was about to say something when I stopped him, "That's final Alex. I know you want to talk to her but we need to make sure that it's her. I don't think any of us can handle the pain if it turns out to be someone else," I said softly, making sure he understands.

He hesitantly nodded his head and went out of the room. Everyone followed him out and went into their respective rooms, probably thinking about the person that Alex claims to be our Evie.

I just sat there drowning in my own thoughts.

She could really be here. I'm so close mia figlia. I will find you soon and we will all be reunited.

Our family could be complete again.
