Can't wait for tonight

This text was the only thing I read over and over and over again during the whole ride back from school as Mia kept go on and on about what we should wear for the party.

"there's no way you're taking something from your closet, because nothing in there is party like, so I'll try find something for you" Mia's voice was echoing in the background, but I didn't listen as the smile practically spread to my ears. "Chloe! Are you even listening?!" her voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I hummed, turning my head at her, my head still up in the clouds, "sorry, what?" my smile didn't come off.

Mia rolled her eyes, "is this him?" she asked, somewhat annoyed.

I knitted my eyebrows in confusion, "well what are you grumpy about sunshine?" I teased sarcastically. Something I've learn from years of watching Mia's quick witty comebacks.

"I don't like him" she said with a stiff look ahead.

I raised an eyebrow at her, "you were the one who told him where I was so he could apologize" I reminded her.

She sighed, "because he practically annoyed it out of me and I could see that he really cared, but I still don't like him, he hurts you" her voice was soft, yet angry thinking about everything she knows he did, but most of the things I just kept a secret from her.

I was still confused, "he cares about me, and he promised to meet me at the party tonight"

"yeah, well guys promise things all the time, doesn't mean he'll really do that" she rolled her eyes as she parked next to my house.

I turned my head, giving her a glare, "he's not like the other guys Mia" I grew defensive as I felt like I know where this conversation is heading.

"Chloe! Open your damn eyes! Every guy that has been interested in you so far either lied to you or tried to use you, they weren't interested in you!"

The moment these words left her mouth, she regrated, I could see that in her eyes the moment she realized what she has just said. My heart dropped at her words, my whole body ached, and I fought the argue to cry as I looked at my best friend, the same best friend that always told me how beautiful I was, the same best friend that used to lay down on my bed as I helped her study, the same best friend I considered as a sister to me said these hard words that made me want to crawl back into my shell.

"Chloe, I'm so-"

"I'll drive with Mason to the party" I cut her off, quickly pulling my back pack out of the passenger seat and shut the car door behind me, jogging to my house not even looking back at Mia's car.

"honey, I made your favourite" my mom's voice rang happily from the kitchen.
