Midtown was a warzone. As much as they tried to hold the army off, they couldn't forever. They had been doing it for two days—at least that's Andromeda's guess—and everyone was tiring out. But one thing was scarily clear: the enemy was closing on the Empire State Building.

She tried to create a mental list of everything and everyone, hoping they had everything covered. The Hunters had set up a defensive line on Thirty-seventh, just three blocks north of Olympus. To the east on Park Avenue, Janaya Silva and Jake Mason and some other Hephaestus campers were leading an army of statues against the enemy. To the west, the Demeter cabin and Grover's nature spirits had turned Sixth Avenue into a jungle that was hampering a squadron of Kronos's demigods. The south was clear for now, but the flanks of the enemy army were swinging around. A few more minutes, and they'd be totally surrounded.

Currently, Andromeda was with Donnie at the Thirty-third at the Park Avenue tunnel. The Dionysus twins, Annabeth and two of her siblings were holding back a Hyperborean giant.

Suddenly, Percy jumped down from Blackjack, and landed on the giant's head. When the giant looked up, he slid off his face, shield-bashing his nose on the way down.

"RAWWWR!" The giant staggered backwards, blue blood trickling from his nostrils.

Percy hit the pavement running. The Hyperborean breathed a cloud of white mist and the temperature dropped. The spot where he'd landed was now coated with ice, and he was covered in frost like a sugar doughnut.

"Hey, Frostie!" Andromeda yelled. Percy hoped she was talking to the giant, not him.

Blue Boy bellowed and turned towards her, exposing the unprotected back of his legs. She began doing a weird shimmy with her shoulders and she skipped backwards. The son of Poseidon charged and stabbed him behind the knee.
