The Three Fates themselves took Luke and Donnie's bodies.

Andromeda had a hard time parting with her brother's body, and so had her father. Dionysus held his daughter as the two of them grieved. Still, she did not cry, not even when the mighty god of madness did. She held her father after he held her, and as much as she wished she could feel her pain, her sadness, her anger, all she felt was...numb.

Once the old hags took the bodies away, their attention had been turned to the group of gods, goddesses, and half-bloods.

One of them looked at her and, even though she didn't say anything, her life literally flashed before her eyes. Suddenly she was twenty. Then she was a middle-aged woman. Then she turned old and withered. All the strength left her body, and she saw her own gravestone and an open grave, a coffin being lowered into the ground. All this happened in less than a second.

It is done, she said.

The Fate held up the snippet of blue yarn—and Andromeda knew it was the same one she and Percy had seen four years ago, the lifeline they'd watched them snip. Percy had thought it was his life. Now they both realised it was Luke's. It was intertwined with a dark purple one, the same colour of Donnie's dark eyes. And once they snipped Luke's string of Fate, they did the same to Donnie's.

They gathered up Luke's body, now wrapped in a white-and-green shroud, and began carrying it out of the throne room. Beside his was her brothers, wrapped in an amethyst and green shroud.

"Wait," Hermes said.

The messenger god was dressed in his classic outfit of white Greek robes, sandals and helmet. The wings of his helm fluttered as he walked. The snakes George and Martha curled around his caduceus, murmuring, Luke, poor Luke.
