I walked into the medical bay where Cee's soul spun around furiously in the large soul jar. There was clearly a thick dark ribbon of smoky black in with the many brilliant colors...he was an old soul. I was disturbed to see it. My brother is a warrior and he was beyond pissed off...there would no doubt be hell to pay. I placed my hands on either side of the bell jar and watched in awe as the swirling settled significantly, like he was aware that I was right there with him.
"He'll pay for what he's done. I swear it," I told him.
I looked up any saw the nurse watching me. "May I look in on her? The Princess?"
I could see on her face that the answer was going to be no.
"My apologies, your Grace. Not without express permission from the Doctor. What I can do is this." She motioned for me to come towards her station with a slight tilt of her head. From there I could see her on a monitor.
It was explained to me that she was in a medically induced coma and that she had been very close to death. She was my brothers twin flame...we all knew it. They were forced to deny it and they were both left somewhat broken as a result.
I could relate.
I used to have dreams that I'd find my twin flame and now I learn that it's supposed to be Julia, the Terran female whose body was shared for over sixty years. Why the hell Deity would do that to us was beyond me. It was like we were living the fucking cosmic joke of all eternity.
I gazed down at the monitor becoming more angry by the second. I noted the time on the monitor and realized that I had better get a move on, or I'd be late.
I stood outside the door to Julia's quarters wondering if I'd remember the space that was on the other side. I also wondered how the animals would react to me. I looked very similar to my brother, only my skin pigmentation isn't as dark and I'm certainly not as aged. My dress uniform had been updated and modernized and I stood, not quite at attention, but close. I noticed the guards glancing at the various medals on my lapel.
"Yes, they were earned, gentlemen."
"Yes, your Grace," they replied in unison as the tightened their stance.
The doors opened with a whoosh and there she was, standing there in a long flowing red gown, looking absolutely amazing in that blasted red dress...the one that Cee always liked. I wasn't sure how I knew that, but I did. Her silver hair was in what she'd call a lazy updo and she had these little sparkly dangling earrings swinging from the lobes of her ears......rubies, I think. I realized quickly how they caught the light and I found it mesmerizing.
"Hi," she said, turning toward the dining area. "Come on in. Hope you're hungry! I cooked enough for ten, I think! Those poor guys out there have been smelling this stuff for hours! I promised to feed them, I hope that's okay?"
Closing my eyes, I inhaled deeply, very aware that I was being sniffed by three clones. I knew not to make any sudden movements or else I might get either scratched or bitten. Neither sounded appealing...after all, these creatures had never seen me before.
She sighed heavily, "good lord y'all—let him in!"
Instantly, all three turned away and allowed me entrance into the main room. I wasn't sure which was more intoxicating, the aroma of the food, or the sight of her gliding back and forth across the floor, placing the many dishes of food on the sideboard; those sparkling dangling earrings of hers dancing in the light...I had to focus. I looked to the sideboard and inhaled the many aromas wafting up toward the ceiling, which was convenient as I'm very tall.
"So is it okay?"
I felt my head turn quickly and the rest if my body followed. I blinked several times in succession as I felt my face heat up. "My apologies Julie—I was—distracted?"
