Inside the cramped militrike truck, Lisa soothes a green faced Shinji. She let out a teasing guffaw when he mentioned that he wasn't particularly feeling his best that day. Shinji was prone to motion sickness which seemed to be the young Taito trike's only weakness. He reminds me of how I have to take care of Jennie Unnie...
Their Trike division was scheduled for sea training and their captain, Khunpir told them that their destination would be the tourist hotspot, Koh Samui.
Lisa has been to Koh Samui before, on different circumstances and transport of course, she was on vacation with her family. She remembers it far too well, Bambam wouldn't stop pestering her and Mother about sailing. It was also the first time she had ever seen her Sol Agila so calm while he and Uncle Awut fished.
The sudden thought of her loved ones gave a swift thug on her heart reminding herself that she was cast out and miles away from home.
"Fuck, Manoban. Did we really have to take this road? There are potholes every 2 meters! I swear, I'm going to hurl my guts out soon if we keep being thrown out of our seats." Shinji grumbles, holding onto Lisa's shoulder and his army rucksack for dear life.
There was a disgusting belch that definitely came from Shinji that had their team throwing them dirty looks. The lanky Taito covered his mouth and begrudgingly swallowed. "Seriously, I can feel myself turning green."
Taking pity on him, the manshee nudges his elbow lightly. "Here, you big baby, munch on this. It's mint. I picked them up last night when I was out for a stroll." Lisa says, handing him a few pieces of leaves wrapped in small cloth.
"A friend of mine used to have motion sickness often so we would pick some before setting off on our long trips." Casting a stern look, she takes his arm off of her. "This is part of the training, don't let them see you so sick. You're an officer, they won't respect you if you show them weakness."
Shinji gives her a knowing look and silently thanks her, chewing on the mint as the truck continues to rock them like sacks of rice. After a while, Shinji falls asleep leaning against Lisa.
The princess however, couldn't sleep a wink. She was playing with the letter she got from Jisoo. She had read it several times over the last three days but Lisa still carries it around with her.
It had been almost half a year since she got a message from the Dongfang royal, she doesn't blame her. Jisoo must be terribly busy, her last letter was full of complaints about her growing list of responsibilities and a few loose jokes that she made up to make Lisa smile. Jennie's letters also came slow nowadays. Rosé and Bambam still write as much as they can though and it makes Lisa feel better that someone still thinks of her regularly.
She runs her hand over her messy raven hair, tussling her bangs a bit before returning to the letter, sheepishly touching the dog eared corners.
This particular letter worried her. It was still midday an hour past noon judging by the sun, she could clearly see Jisoo's words in the daylight. The truck had slowed and trekked over to a more peaceful route to Koh Samui, so she decided to read the verse that had been haunting her nights.
Limario Monkey! Bambam says you are having a hard time there in the Militrikes. I want to tell you that you have to stay strong but that would make me a hypocrite.
It's hard for me here too, Manobal. My parents are getting worse. Meaner. Stricter. My people are getting rowdy here, and I am the unlucky soul tasked to fix it. The people haven't been happy, there are so many things to do. My brother Jin has completely abandoned his responsibilities as crown prince, so instead Father and Mother dote on me now.
