Comets of Chaos Part 4

[Bony's POV]

You hear screams coming from the barn. Everyone is running out of it. You see flashes of light on the windows. Something's wrong. Iyro immediately runs to the barn. You follow.

He stops and gasps in the front entrance. You can see why. It shocks you. It's Aires. Floating in the air. Swinging flares of fire everywhere. It's not burning the whole farm but they are, slowly. You look at her face. Her blank expression, her eyes. Glowing blank eyes. And that familiar flare in her hair.

You remember last week. She had a fever. It wasn't that bad. But one night sleeping with her, her hair flared that same flare. Orange like Iyro's. It suddenly wakes you up. You tried to fan it, pat it with your hands but it's not distinguishing. You tried it with a wet towel and it worked. Smoke comes out of the air. You sigh in relief. "That never happened before." She had fevers before but this normally doesn't happen. You look at your hand. It's not burned, that's good. The flame was gentle.

The inside of the barn is ablaze with that gentle flame. But if they keep this long it'll burn down the barn like a termite infestation. You dodge one swoosh of the flame and call her name. No reply. No stutter or change in her expression. "AIRES!" You call again. Another burst of flames came at you. You dodge them.

Iyro makes his way closer to her. Maneuvering every blast. Jumping on the table, bouncing off the wall. Parkouring each step up. He dropped his hat but that doesn't matter now. One more pounce and catches Aires in the air. He rolls down for a landing.

Holding Aires in his arms she's not behaving very well. She's struggling to escape. But you know Iyro can't. You can't. You quickly grab her for a hug but Aires still struggles to get out of your embrace. Swinging her flaring hands behind you. Iyro holds them while you try to calm her down. He won't be affected much by her flames because he's used to it. But you're not. Their flares are still hot for you. But that doesn't matter to you anyway.

You pet her hair gently. You can feel it burning your fur. Passing through your skin. "It's okay Aires mommy's here." You can't believe you said that but right now it's necessary. You wrap her tight as she still flails her limbs. Iyro tries his best to keep hold of her arms. She wails uncontrollably. It hurts you to hear her like this. See her like this.

You continue to pet. "Calm down Aires. Calm down." You reassure her. "I'm here. Please calm down sweetie." You can hear her wails beginning to quiet down. Her movements begin to slow down. You continue to pet her. The flare is shrinking. Smoke comes out from it.

You can hear her whine in her soft voice. You now fix her position to be in your full embrace. Pressing your lips on the side of her forehead while you extinguish the flare. "There there. It's alright Aires." Comforting her with your gentle tone.

Aires slowly falls back to sleep. The flare is fully extinguished as only smoke comes out of her hair. Your hand is charred in black. It hurts a little but that doesn't matter right now. Irregular breathing comes from Aires' slumber. She must be disturbed.

(Laying on the white ground. Surrounded by flames. Aires moves her hand--)

You quickly came back home after it. Putting Aires immediately to bed. Iyro explained to the barn owners what happened and promised the team will help rebuild any of the damages. As for you, you manage to wrap up your left hand with bandages. It will recover eventually.

You continue on to taking care of Aires. You put a wet towel in her head. Her fever is back again. This isn't going well.

Last week it took alot for you to take care of her. You can't stay away from her because she might feel lonely or have nightmares, plus that sudden flare that happened. You manage to find a pill to cure her but it took a while to get here. Maybe you can ask Iyro to buy one tomorrow since you can't leave Aires' side.
