Festival week is finally here! Everyone is busy arranging all the stuffs needed since the opening gala will be tonight. There will be a variety show for families and the countdown for the celebration will be done with a fireworks display.

I bought a special dress for the said opening and a casual get-up for the basketball game. Emily was there when I chose what to buy. Of course, she has the eye of a stylish and well; I’ve got the so called body of a model. (Aspiring...) She’ll fetch me tonight and we’re going to the gala together. My mom and dad will be coming too but they have their own ride.

“Are you ready Hann?”my mom asked. “Emily will be coming soon.”

“Almost, mom. Just a little bit touch and I’ll be ready.” I answered while applying gloss on my lips. I look different tonight though. I seldom apply makeup so this is new to me. My mom did half of the work so I guess I look stunning.

A couple of minutes after, I heard a horn and it must be Emily’s car. I hurried down the stair and greeted her.

She looked very gorgeous with her dress and she was sparkling with her silver plated shoes and purse.

“Wow! You look like a princess.”I remarked with my mouth open.

“Oh! Thanks sis. You look equally stunning.” she responded while giving me a hug. “Hello, Mr. and Mrs. McTavish. Nice Evening. You both look great” she turned to mom and dad who gave her a hug too.

“Let’s get going then.” I finally said and hurried out of the house with Emily while mom and dad followed.

“Take care you two. We are going on our own way. We’ll let the young girls mingle together.” Dad smiled and bid us goodbye while they got in their car.

“Thanks mom and dad” I called back and got in Emily’s car.

The gala night was a fun-filled event. I saw many families together with little children who had fun with the fireworks. We were having fun with the other cheerleaders too. We went from one booth to another and ate all sorts of street foods. There were dancing too and a karaoke booth for the wannabe singers. Emily didn’t let the chance pass of her singing her voice out loud. Some of the girls went from high notes to off keys. Indeed, we had the best night ever. We even took photos in the photo booth with random costumes to choose from.

While we were sitting at the bench eating ice cream, Emily got a phone call.

“Hello handsome. How are you doing?” she blushed while smiling. It might be her boyfriend then. They were having a long chat and I had the chance to ask the other cheerleaders about the guy.

“Hey Sheena. I wanna ask something.” I called out and walked towards Sheena who was also eating ice cream.

“Sure Hannah. Anything.” she smiled back and offered me the seat beside her.

“Tell me about Emily’s boyfriend. I never had the chance to meet that guy and he seems so special.” I curiously asked.

“Oh! Yeah, he is really special. He is the richest guy in school. They’ve been together for a while now and their relationship seems genuine.” she continued.

“Seriously? What’s his name then?” I questioned while licking my near-dropping ice cream.

“OMG! Are you really the best friend? You’re funny Hannah. Haha! ” Well, his name is ..”

“Sheena!! Ken is waiting for you. C’mon.” someone called over and interrupted our conversation.

“Coming!”, “Bye Hannah. See yah” she called back while running towards the girl who called her.
