after waking up and completing my morning routine, getting dressed into a black lace crop top, green checkered skirt and a brown coat, i ran downstairs, seeing bella already waiting in the car for me.

"could you take any longer?" she sarcastically asked, rolling her eyes.

"i could, but i knew you would leave without me so..." i said, taking her slightly seriously, not realising she was being sarcastic.

the silent ride to school seemed like it took forever, it was probably just because i had to be stuck in the same car as my older sister for more than five minutes, alone. basically, it sucked.

we finally reached the school parking lot, i could already feel the curious eyes of the students staring the truck down. after pushing the heavy truck door open and slamming it shut after stepping out, creating a loud bang in the process, i began my walk to what i hoped was the student office to retrieve my class schedule. dragging my platform mary jane shoes across the floor as i walked slowly towards the bland brick building, i looked around the parking lot. almost every set of eyes was either on me or bella who was walking quickly only a few metres in front of me.

we reached the front office, bella having been ahead of me was already waiting for the elderly office lady to print her schedule. there were two ladies sitting at the front desk so i walked over to the second lady.

"hi, uhh, doris-" i said, reading the name tag that sat on her red cat sweater "i'm here to get my class schedule, uhh my name is gwendolyn swan?"

"welcome to forks high school sweetie, just give us a moment to pull up your record, gwendolyn swan did you say?" i nodded with a small polite smile. "of course, here you are." she rolled the chair over to the printer, grabbing my freshly printed schedule and a school map. "these are yours sweetie, you'll also need this-" she said handing me a pink slip, "-you'll need to get this signed off at the beginning of each class today, and then bring it back to me at the end of the day, you got all that?" she asked me smiling at my mildly confused face.

"yup, schedule, map, slip to bring back later, got it all." i said holding each piece of paper out as i named it, grinning back at her.

"alright then sweetie, you need anything you come right back here okay?"

"got it, thanks doris!" i walked away, bella long gone from the building.

i looked down at my schedule seeing i had english advanced first, and headed in the direction i hoped the classroom was in.

i continued to keep my head down whilst walking the hallway, stupidly, not looking up as to see where i was going.

next thing i knew i was held to someone's chest after walking into a wall and nearly falling to the floor. but since when do walls have arms that can catch human beings? i stared at the black, sweater-clad chest i was hugged against, slightly out of breath due to the surprise of my situation. my situation being pressed against a random guy's chest. the chest was slightly muscular, but not too muscular, the perfect lanky kind of muscular. his long arms were wrapped tightly around my waist before he began lightly pushing me away from him, i became flustered in the realisation that i was also some random person to him and that he may be annoyed at my clumsiness. quickly crouching down to collect the papers i had dropped, he soon followed, grabbing my schedule, standing back up.

i too, stood up, having collected my map and class slip, still avoiding eye contact with the silent boy. he held my schedule out to me, i went to reach out for it but he pulled it out of my reach. instantly, i looked into his playful eyes. they were a bright amber, not a honey gold or a sunflower yellow, an amber comparable to no other. they shined under the unnatural fluorescent lighting of the school hallway, mesmerising me in every way. moving from his shining eyes, i saw his accentuated cheekbones, hooded eyes and sharp jawline. this man was utter perfection, a greek god walking on earth.
