Hey guys! Just wanted to note before the next chapter started, I haven't really done POV's in this story, but I'm going to start flashing between
Y/n and Lauren every once in awhile when I feel like both characters need their moments in the story.I'll indicate when I do this so it's not confusing, but overall let me know if this is something you all like or you all just want the way I was originally writing the story being mostly through Y/n's eyes.
Anyways thank you for reading and enjoy! :)
_____________________________Lauren
Lauren had stayed awake in the early morning hours thinking about what had transpired between her and Y/n, playing the event in her head over and over again. She'd felt an emptiness in her stomach when she'd heard Y/n's words,
I just...I can't, Lauren.
What struck Lauren was that Y/n hadn't spoken those words with finality or even resignation. It'd been more like a question, almost as if Y/n wasn't sure about her own words. It hadn't sunk in until the green eyed woman had analyzed the words a thousand times in her head, so she wasn't sure if she was reading into things too much.
She'd finally fallen asleep only to be awoken an hour later by the sound of her front door being opened; the sound of heavy footsteps making the green eyes shoot open in alarm. Lauren grabbed the softball bat that she always kept near her bed, clutching the cool metal flush to her body in an attempt at feeling armed.
She got up out of bed and peeked her head through the door of her bedroom, squinting down the dark hallway to see if she could spot any disturbances.
Suddenly, the hallway was filled with bright streams of light, causing Lauren to slip on the wood flooring and scream, clapping a hand over her eyes and fumbling with the bat to protect herself.
"What the hell are you doing, Lo?"
Lauren took her hand off her face and threw the bat down in annoyance as she got up off her ass.
"Dinah?! What the fuck are you doing in my apartment at six in the goddamn morning?!"
The Polynesian stood at the end of the hall in the living room looking at the bleary eyed woman in amusement. Dinah must have just finished her shift at the club, because she was clad in the clothing she always changed into afterwards: black leggings, a black hoodie with her last name and number on the back from her days in high school basketball, and white Nike running shoes.
Dinah simply went and sat down on the couch, grabbing a Hot Cheeto from the nearly empty, discarded bag that lay on Lauren's glass coffee table, before responding to the angry Cuban.
"Jesus, Lo. I was just going to ask if you wanted to get breakfast with me. I just left the club after changing and I'm starving, girl!"
Lauren gritted her teeth and pinched the bridge of her nose with her fingers in annoyance and resignation, knowing that Dinah wouldn't leave her alone unless she said yes.
"Fine, just give me like thirty minutes to get ready."
Dinah stood up quickly, knocking over her purse in haste to hug the sleepy interior designer, a huge smile plastered on her face as she squeezed Lauren's cheeks between her hands.
"I'll wait for you here! I knew you could never say no to your favorite person in the world!"
"Favorite, my ass."
Lauren muttered to herself as she stalked towards the bathroom, closing the door behind her and turning on the shower.
"Oh, I heard that, bitch! Don't make me come in there!"
