Hate is a STRONG word but that's the only way Jake could describe it whenever Riki would look at his son.

Riki doesn't hate his little brother, a little voice inside Jake's head continued to tell him every time Riki would very politely decline his offers to carry Leo or when he would take a u-turn whenever the little boy would excitedly waddle towards him.

Riki would use his much longer legs as the advantage and Leo would either think it was the coolest thing ever or he'd silently cry to himself, disappointed that he wasn't fast enough to catch up to his favourite hyung.

Jake desperately wanted to find a reason to explain why he seemed to avoid him at all costs.

Heeseung's reassurances provided little help, not when he feared the worst.

You can't blame him, Jake thought, Leo was another product of Riki's parents' divorce.

He wouldn't be surprised if he resented him, Leo only was half his blood after all. He understood very well that it took time to form a relationship, just as it took time for Riki to come into terms with the fact that his Appa was in love with someone else, someone other than his dad.

Jake sighed as he picked the sobbing child.

"Calm down my little kangaroo", he mumbled in a sing-song tone

"Ki?!", he only screamed

"I know, I know, he's a little busy, okay, let's go play"

"Ma!", Jake's nerves spiked up at the sudden cry.

Leo screamed for his ma, an automatic thing he did whenever he either needed something or whenever he woke up.

He had been napping for a while, after he'd tired out from running around the big house. Jake had decided to leave him to rest for a while and in doing so, he'd fallen asleep somewhere.

"Ma!", The boy echoed louder.

"Coming baby!", He yelled back.

He ran up the stairs, hoping he hadn't decided to move yet because Leo was very active and if he got off of the bed, he'd be wrecking havoc, it didn't matter how tiny he was.

"Le-"

He couldn't believe it.

Jake stood by the open door, he couldn't move forward, not with the image of Riki standing beside the bed in front of him.

Leo was wide awake, his little eyes stared in awe at the boy in front of him. Riki had the same expression, none of them knew what to do, they looked at each other as if they were face-to-face with an extraterrestrial.

Riki flinched when the toddler made grabby hands towards him. Once he realised the gesture was normal, he pointed at himself in question, the younger only whined as a way to confirm what he wanted.

Riki gulped, it felt odd, it wasn't as if he'd never seen or held a child before, he just felt it was different. Even after three years, he wasn't very used to the idea of having a little brother, Sangwon as the exception. Leo was different, Leo was his appa's son which meant he'd have to share. He didn't know how to feel about that.

Holding him was another surprise. He was as light as a feather but very warm. Riki was always fond of hugs, clinging onto his dad most of the time or either, if not both of his boyfriends when they were around.

It was physical touch, his love language so why did it feel so foreign with the baby in his arms?

His heart swelled when he brought his little palm to touch his cheek and he almost exploded as soon as he gave him a huge smile, his tiny baby teeth showing. He couldn't help but return the smile.

"Hi", he spoke softly, afraid he'd scare him if he spoke louder. Leo's answer was in the form of small slaps against his face.

"Ow, ow, ow", he exclaimed, "be careful"

"Huh?", He asked innocently, immediately distracting Riki in the process and in that moment of weakness, Leo found his opportunity. He bounced excitedly in his hold as he screamed loudly without a care in the world.

Riki scrambled to tighten his hold on the child, afraid he'd drop him with how much he was jumping.

"Leo, please stop"

"Stop?"

"Yes, stop"

"Why? Fun!"

"No, not fun", and suddenly the younger stopped.

"Not fun?", Leo asked, and Riki thought he'd cry, "Ki, not fun?"

"Wait what?"

He said my name. He knows my name.

"What did you say baby?"

"Not fun? Ki not fun?"

"Ki?", it sounded rather different coming from Leo even if he'd heard that nickname a million times.

"Ki", Leo parroted as he pointed at him with his tiny finger and an eyebrow quirk as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

Jake stared for a while. He couldn't help himself, he wanted to scream, he
run and tell his husband everything and so he turned around to find his phone but–

"Ma!", Leo exclaimed, he'd been spotted, Jake needed to leave, he didn't want to ruin their interaction.

"Umm", Jake cleared his throat as he turned to look at the two boys, "I'll be going, I need to-"

"Wait", Riki stopped him, "Here", he walked to him and held out the child.

"No!", okay that came out wrong, "I mean don't you want to hold him?", Jake winced at the desperation that spewed from his own mouth.

"Uh", he looked at the little boy who's hand was firmly fisted around his shirt, "yeah, I guess so"
