Y/n's pov
"So it's a what again", My father questioned holding my drawing in his hands. "It's a bird walker", I repeated taking the drawing from him. Eleven year old me held up the drawing more to show him. "A bird walker", I repeated depositing a finger at the mess drawing. "I r-really don't know sweetie", he stuttered holding his hands up. I pouted my cheeks then rushed over towards my mom who was on the balcony. She was sitting criss cross with the sun shining on her.
As a kid, I always believed the sun rain down majority of its rays onto my mother since she loved and cherished it so much. More than many others.
"Look", I said holding the drawing her face. She grabbed my drawing and looked down at it. "...A bird walker", she answered. A big smile grew on my face. I jumped to my feet and turned towards my dad with my arms crossed.
"SEE MOM GETS IT", I exclaimed. My mother turned her upper body to be able to look at my father. "It is a good idea", my mother agreed. In reality she was probably joking, but it made me happy.
"BIRDS FLY", my father stated loudly. "Birds need rest to", I hummed closing my eyes, a confident smile still present on my face.
"Now time to work on a fish walker", I announced before rushing off to my room.
"Got bored as well", a voice said behind me causing me to look back seeing it was Mel. "Seems like you did too", I replied focusing back forward. The sky was beautiful right now. The orange and yellow mixing in perfectly creating a peaceful vibe. The clouds and huge blimps slowly flying around added to the tranquility of it.
Mel let out dry chuckle. "The people here have nothing to offer me", she stated, her voice smooth and warm like honey. "The only one worth my time is him", she said nodding her head in a specific direction. I looked seeing a blimp passing by far out in the distance. On it was Jayce's face on it.
"He has won Piltover's heart, seems like he won your heart as well", I replied which she rolled her eyes playfully to. "Now you know it's not like that", she replied. "It's just he's new he giving something instead of the same this and that", she explained. "I guess I get what you mean", I hummed. "DO you understand what I meant", she questioned. "Kind of, you know I don't pay much attention what half of our council say", I answered then took a sip of my wine.
"You need to", she chuckled dryly. "Most of it is just about how we can make Piltover better", I sighed. "I believe it is already better, our issues reside more below", I said. "Once we help them then we can focus on making topside "better"", I finished. Mel gave me a closed eye smile while turning her head to the side.
"You know you sound a lot like your mother", she sighed looking on her golden cup, swirling it around to see the mix of red and dark pink swirl against one another. "Now you sound like my father", I chuckled. "How is he doing by the way", she questioned. "...Not better if I'm being honest, but he's still him", I answered. "Still trying to build things, still trying to work, still bugging me", I explained chuckling towards the end. "You are his little girl", she replied. "I remember the times when your mother and father would visit me, every time they talk about their inventions you would always interupt us to tell us about yours", she told. "Since we are not he topic, are you still working on that umbrella tie", she questioned causing me to let out a groan.
"Don't remind me of that", I groaned. "I don't knowww it was an impressive idea", she joked sticking her tongue out at me then focusing back on the sky along with me. "..I truly do miss your mother", she admitted, guilt still lace din her voice. Her and my mother were close, like cousins almost. The only reason Mel voted for my mother to be casted out was because my mother told her to. That if even one conceal member voted for her to be exiled she must raise her hand as well. I never knew why at first, but over the years of being within the council I figured why. She wanted Mel to stay on their good sides I believe.
Years have past, even so it's hard adjusting to her dying, no, killed. I learned you can never get over it. It just becomes bearable. I remember my father had to force me out of room after months of refusing to leave in fear of seeing the sun.The sun remind me of her. I know it's dumb, but it just it reminded me of her.
"Me too", I sighed giving her a small smile. When I did I noticed a familiar figure in the crowd causing me to look back.
"Your Golden boy is here", I said while waving Jayce over to where we were. It looked as if he was looking for someone already. When he notice dns he began making his way over towards us.
"I should take my leave now", I said to Mel. "Alright, have a good evening Y/n", she replied. I nodded my head to Jayce then walked away soon leaving the fundraiser.
