CHAPTER FOUR ──── 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗛 𝗢𝗙 𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡

❝ you are the heaven sent angel I have
prayed for since I was a young girl. The
angel that came to my rescue. ❞

TIME HAS GONE BY, DAYS turning into weeks. Honoring her request, Yoriichi has agreed to help Hikari begin her Slayer training, teaching her the ways of the Demon Slayers.

When Hikari first made her decision upon what she'd do in the Demon Slayers Corps, Yoriichi was surprised upon hearing the woman's request. He searched her eyes, finding a determined look deep within her gaze.

"Hikari-san, is this your final decision?" Yoriichi questioned gently.

Hikari nodded without hesitation. "I want to become strong and skilled in the swordsmanship of the Demon Slayers. I... I want to be able to contribute to the world being rid of the demons." I want to avenge my father.

Yoriichi nodded curtly. "If that is what you wish, then very well. Allow me to teach you, Hikari-san."

That's how Hikari found herself being trained by Yoriichi. He would train her in the evening when he would return from his missions. He'd started her off with a wooden sword, showing her the correct movements, how to handle the sword, everything she needed to know he would show her. He is a diligent teacher that recognized her desire to learn, which he commended her for.

Hikari advanced forward, twisting her body to bring down her wooden sword against Yoriichi's, the burgundy haired man parrying her moves. The woman huffed, bringing her arms up to her chest to parry Yoriichi's own attack. She moves back a few inches, waiting for Yoriichi to strike once again, raising her sword up once more.

A few seconds pass. Yoriichi slides forward with ease, feigning a cut to Hikari's neck. The woman brought her sword down, yet she was too slow; Yoriichi's sword intercepted her own, the hilt suddenly being torn out of her grip and the wooden sword falling to the ground. Hikari panted, sweat perspiring on her forehead.

He had defeated her countless times. Yet Hikari only felt more determined to improve. She had only began a few weeks ago, and she'd never compare to Yoriichi, a man born with the natural talent for combat. She would do the best she could, and rise above as much as she can — that is her goal now.

"You are doing a fair job Hikari-san. You have progressed a plentiful amount since we have began training. Let us commemorate here for today," Yoriichi's warm words made Hikari nod eagerly much to the man's amusement.
