On a park bench

I woke up pretty early today. It's now 10:30 am and I have been awake for about three hours.

My sleeping schedule has been shit for a couple of weeks, so I decided to change. I rarely saw my friends, because I was always sleeping, when they were awake and during the evenings, when everyone was awake, I was doing schoolwork.

I am currently walking in a park, that is near my house. There are only few people, so it's calming and nice. No screaming children or young couples (who I hate the most). The weather is also pretty cold and humid, so it's very refreshing.

I am just about to turn back home, when I notice a person lying on a bench. The person seems to be a male. He has black clothes and dark hair. He doesn't have any kind of coat on. That's about all you can tell from his appearance, because he has his back turned. He also has couple of backpacks beside him.

He looks to be homeles with that many bags.

I am a little worried for the mans health. It cold and wet, so without a coat, you are going to freeze to death in about two hours.

I should try to wake him up and see if he's okay.

Wait...

"What if he's a some kind of drug addict or insane person", I think to myself. "If i try to wake him, he may try to attack me"

I think for a while, before I decide to be brave and help him.

I slowly walk towards the man.

When I am right beside him, I try to reach over him, trying to see, if he has his eyes closed.

They are closed.

I carefully reach towards his shoulder and shake him.

"Hey. Are you okay? You shouldn't be sleeping here. It's cold", I half whisper to him.

"Hmmm...", I hear a low humn from him. Then he starts to stir and he starts to open his eyes.

Before I even realise, his eyes are open, he jumps up from his sleeping position to a sitting one.

I am so startled, I take couple of steps back.

"I-I am so sorry. Do you want to sit here. I-I'll leave. I am sorry!", he franticly starts to speak with a very deep voice. It surpsises me, but I try not to pay mind to it.

"No, no. Don't worry. I was just cheking on you", I tell him with a calm voice, trying to calm him down. "It's just very cold out here. You shouldn't sleep here, even if you had a coat on"

His eyes go wide.
And he starts to tear up...

"No, no. Oh no. Don't cry. I didn't mean to scare you", I tell him. I get a little closer to him, because doesn't look to be a bad guy (and he doesn't smell bad).

I put both of my hands on his biceps and pet him. "It's okay", I assure him and l look at him in his teary eyes.

"I am sorry", he sniffles and starts to franticly swipe his tears away. "I've just had a long day. I got kicked out of my house by my girlfriend. She packed my bags for me but didn't let me take my jacket. I am so cold", he sobs.

I feel so bad. He doesn't look like the type of guy, who would reasonably get kicked out if his girlfriends house.
Or maybe it's just a first immpression...

"You have nowhere to go? There should be a motel just couple block away from the park. I'll show you the way. Let me help you with your bags"
I start to grab one, before he takes a strong hold of my hand. The grip isn't that strong, so it doesn't hurt me at all.

He must be so cold, that he doesn't have much strenght left.

"I don't have any money", he tells me with a small voice.

I look at him. His eyes are on the ground with shame. With his free hand, he is trying to swipe away the remaining tears.
"You don't have any money at all? Don't you have like apple pay or something?", I ask him, trying to come up with ideas, where he could get money from.
He shakes his head," No... I am not allowed to have a credit card"

I look at him in shock. He isn't allowed to have one?!

"And this is my phone". He starts to dig his jeans front pocket and lifts up a flip phone.
"I tought if I added couple of stickers, it wouldn't be that embarrasing to own one", he softly giggles and shows the front of the phone that has a couple of flower stickers.

I give him a smile. "Yeah, it deffinetly looks better. It's not boring"

So cute.

Before I get to go deeper into the world in my head, I notice him shivering. "Hey, what do you think about staying with me for the night? I have a guest room you can sleep in", I offer him with a friendly smile.

He looks at me with big eyes,"I would be forever grateful, but are you sure? I am a random man, who you just met on a park bench? Aren't you scared that I am going to do to you?"
"Even in this short time, that we have spoken, I think I know what you are like. And besides, if you would try something, I always keep a gun under my pillow", I shrug and start grapping more of his stuff. As much as I can carry.
"You-you keep a gun under your pillow..?", he asks me with a scared look and starts standing up.
"No, I am kidding", I give him a short giggle.

Now that he has stood up, I can tell, how tall he actually is.

Maybe, about, idk, 6'4.
Yep... he is tall as heck.

He also starts to grab the rest of his bags and turns to me with a smile on his face.
"Shall we?", I ask him with a fake british accent.
"We shall"
We start to walk to my house.

After a couple of minutes of comfortable silence, I decide to speak.
"I am sorry, I forgot to ask your name", I apologise to him and shift my gaze beside me, where he is walking.
"Oh, right... um... it's Corpse. My name is Corpse", he introduces himself to me, looking at me.
"It is nice to meet you Corpse. My name is Heidi", I introduce myself to him.
"It's nice to meet you too, Heidi", he smiles, and moves his gaze in front of us. He then continues, "Thank you, Heidi. You may have saved my life today... So, thanks you, I owe you my life", He laughs nervously and looks at the ground.
"It's okay. I am happy to help", I smile at him and playfully nudge his shoulder with mine. "And don't tell me that you own me your life. That is too much, okay?", I tell him with now caring and gentle look on my face.
He looks at me and gives me a shy smile," Okay. Too much, too much"

"Hey, btw! We have to get you a new phone. I want you to play online games with me on your phone!", I tell him, while pointing my finger at him.
He laughs and nods,"I guess so"

We make the rest of the trip to my house in a comfortable silence.
