Gift Ceremony

(Sorry about all these late releases now a days, schools just really all over me at the moment but the holidays are in three days so I'll be back to a mostly regular schedule!!)

Everybody crowded together in the courtyard and looked up at Mirabel. Dolores and Mariano stood to the side of Luis' future door, holding their triplets.

"Tonight we gather, to celebrate as another steps into this light that my Abuela gave us so many years ago." Mirabel said, clutching the candle tightly in her hands.

"Does she look a little pale to you?" Isabela whispered to Luisa from behind you. "Yup." Luisa replied and you fiddled nervously with the waist band of your pants.

Mirabel finished her speech and a spotlight shined at Luis as Casitas tiles flipped over to create a walk way. Luis waved shyly to Emilia as he walked towards his door.

Mirabel held the candle down low so Luis could place his hands around it. "Do you promise to protect your family, your home, this miracle and this community with your gift?" Mirabel asked.

Luis nodded and Mirabel pulled the candle away from him carefully. Luis took a deep breath and held it as he reached out and grabbed his door knob.

The door almost immediately grew brighter and everyone looked up in happy anticipation at the sight of Luis' door fading to show the carving of him in the wood.

Everybody cheered and Luis beamed up at his parents. Dolores pushed Acacia into Mariano's hands and ran forward to scoop Luis up into a hug.

"What's his gift?" Antonio asked. "I think he can talk to the dead or something." Camilo guessed from the image on Luis' door.

"You idiot, he can bring people back from the dead and communicate with dead spirits." You said, whacking Camilo on the back of the head.

"He literally brought me back from the dead!" You added. "I forgot I'm sorry! DON'T CUT HOLES IN MY SOCKS AGAIN!" Camilo begged.

"When did I do that?" You asked with a frown. "That wasn't you??" Camilo replied in slight shock. "Oh yeah sorry, that was me." Antonio said with a guilty smile.

"Hold the children." Camilo said with a serious expression. You didn't have time to object as he shoved the twins into your arms and ran off to somehow injure Antonio.

You chuckled and headed upstairs and over to Mirabel. Luis was already leading a crowd of people into his room and you peered in.

Your eyebrows shot up in surprise at the sight of what looked like a literal graveyard full of mist and real dirt and grass as the floor.

Luis looked overjoyed though so you shrugged it off and turned to Mirabel. "You did great." You said with a smile.

Adela walked past you and scooped Antonia out of your hands with a sly grin. You didn't even try to resist and bumped Marcos higher up on your hip.

"Thanks." Mirabel replied with a sigh. Alirio suddenly came up beside Mirabel and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"How's the weight?" He asked, placing one of his hands over Mirabel's stomach lightly. She was quickly explaining how it was hurting a bit when Dolores wandered by with Mariano and their triplets.

They both smiled at you and you smiled back before they headed off into Luis' room. Luisa passed by right after with Isaac and Evan. You both exchanged smiles and you turned back to Mirabel and Alirio.

You gasped and Marcos looked at you with a small frown. "What's wrong?" Alirio asked you with a concerned frown. "Mirabel I think your water just broke." You said, pointing at her skirt.
